Before you know it, graduation will be here,

A time for joy and a time for cheer,

But also for reflection on all the years past,

The good times we had and how they flew by so fast.

We started as a freshman, inexperienced and new,

Before we knew it, that year was through.

Then after the summer, on to grade ten,

To repeat the routine all over again.

Eleventh grade, it came and it went,

Then our senior year, time to represent.

We are the big dog on campus for 180 days,

And then its time for our friends to go their separate ways.

We will be going to college, and doing big things,

We will be expected to grow, to “spread our wings.”

It’s the culmination of all of our years,

There will be lots of laughing but ten times more tears.

It’s a realization that we have come to the end,

No more comfort zone, and no more close friends.

We will sit and look back at our high school careers,

The football games, pep rallies, and the administrators we feared,

The teachers we loved, and even the ones we despised,

Because in the long run, they all impacted our lives.

We will leave here as better people; I have no doubts, not one,

We have been given the tools, so take them and run

Keep your friends close, and don’t take them for granted,

Because in a matter of months, after we have been handed,

The diploma that this whole experience was for,

You will realize what’s happening; your foot is in the door,

So here’s my farewell to my classmates, my friends

Here’s to new memories, new hobbies, new trends.

I wish you the best in all that you do,

In the world that will seem so very brand new

Never forget the good times that you had,

From back in 9th grade, to the time you were a grad,

I’m sure you will need them later in life,

When you feel like quitting, due to problems and strife.

So, so long, farewell, good luck, and goodbye,

Reach for the stars and shoot for the sky.
