American football came to London, and left fast

Just wanted to hear your opinion on the recent football - "gridiron" - match in London between NY Giants vs Miami Dolphins. (people living in England) Final score? 13 - 10. Quite the definition of boring football.

ha, I find it quite sad for the NFL to be promoting such a game when:

1) Arsenal vs Liverpool is playing (awesome game, btw)2) ( Read more... )

To be fair, the Giants are pretty damn good. They're second only to the Cowboys who are dominating. So, definitely not one of the worst teams.

That said, the game was dreadfully boring. It was fun to see the teams around England (they went to Stamford Bridge!) but thats about it. The game was horrible.

i find it ironic how America bashes the English version of "football" so much as non-exciting, and they brought a 13 - 10 game.

definitely did not win over any (possible) fans in England

I find it hilarious. As an American soccer fan, I hear all the time that soccer's boring.
And that NY/Miami game was one of the most boring games I've seen in years.

Are you kidding me? Baseball is one of the most boring sports ever. I can only bear to watch if the Red Sox are in the playoffs/World Series. And even then I can't even watch the whole game.

Such a great thing about Soccer - watching a match on television takes 2 hours of your time. Period.

Unless it's the odd rare cup match that ends in a tie, where overtime and penalty kicks could stretch things out an extra 45 minutes.

Baseball, especially playoff baseball games, now usually exceed 3 and a half hours. Game 3 of the world series was a 9 inning game and was over 4 hours. Pro and college football is often the same. Only American college basketball games can finish at a brisk 2 hour pace. And even then, you have to deal with constant advertisements. I'd gladly trade sponsor logos on a jersey for not having to deal with television commercials every 5 minutes. Soccer is a great sport.

Another thought: I'd say the average soccer fan has seen about 20,000 fewer car and truck television advertisements over their life than the average American football or baseball fan.

haha

first time i've ever heard that
i actually wonder now how much of my life is wasted watching the exo-skeleton of a Ford truck being thrown onto a set of wheels and axels.

and to think NFL wants to put the SuperBowl in London around year 2011. The commercials would drive the average European crazy.
