Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go I wanna be sedated
That was my weekend.
As useless as my drug addiction is (which is perhaps what makes it an ADDICTION), I ran out of pain medication last Thursday and have been more or less drug-free since. First, I wasn't counting on needing the Percocets re-filled immediately as I was scheduled to have another epidural this past week. In one agonizing moment, I did something incredibly stupid at 4am which cost me the chance to get the epidural. Blinded by pain and desperate for any relief, I started popping pills (so, yes, this is why I can see it being possible to OD) and one of those pills (ok, a few of them) happened to be Motrin 800 mg pills which apparently do not mix well with epidural injections.
In fact, you are not allowed to have any Motrin (and a whole host of other anti inflammatories) seven full days before an epidural. Waking up at 5am on the day of supposed relief, only to realize that my 2pm scheduled epidural would be cancelled, is not as joyous as one would imagine. And the worst part is *I* am to blame. I can't even point a finger.... I hate being mature.
I actually had made plans for the week based on the fact that I would not be in pain. e.g. sitting at the 2010 NHL Draft. Don't get me wrong, I still did it, but OMG the pain. I still haven't recovered (and that was Friday).
Fortunately, the epidural is re-scheduled.....for the end of NEXT month. Yes, that's SARCASM. And while, I'm ranting whining at the injustice of my HMO, I have yet to hear back from my last MRI taken almost 2 weeks ago.
Of course, I complained, but my neurosurgeon (whom I must try to be nice to for the immediate future) was on VACATION this week and apparently, nobody else is allowed to give me the results. Today, I was given an appointment for late next week at which time, the results will be given to me. Why, I need a neurosurgeon to give me the MRI results is somewhat discouraging.
But, at least, I don't have long to think about it. *rolls eyes*
So, this weekend was plenty of Mass Effect 2 on xbox 360 AND SLEEPING. Fortunately, the World Cup was on this weekend, so that helped with the latter.
