Yesterday, was a near perfect day. But, these days, I don't require as much. Yes, I've matured. The only imperfection was when I woke at 4am, screaming in pain and unable to get back to sleep even with narcotics (i.e. Vicodin, Ultram, etc). These days, I'm used to waking screaming in pain (and it's not from night terrors or anything lame, but because I have a HERNIATED disc from being victimized by a metallic monster of death). The pain is almost comforting as it's my constant (in Lost parlance) and something that I can always depend on. In short, it's my friend.
And I like waking up in bed with a friend. Ok, this is getting sick.
The point is, after waking in pain (and it subsequently going away), life is brighter and I know that I'm actually alive.
And without reminders....I'd be lost. Over the past year, I found myself relating too much to Dr. Manhattan (of Watchmen fame), not because of the enormously large blue cock (although I often have matching blue balls) but rather his desire to retreat to Mars after losing contact with his humanity.
/checks to see if anyone on LJ works with me....
So, I flaked on my screening citing the plausible rainy weather as a factor for "car trouble".
HAY INTERNETS. Do not bother reporting me as frankly nobody cares that I canceled. Yes, there are some that read (or used to read) this looking for ways to get me in trouble. Seriously. Pathetic, I KNOW! I.e. One time, I joked about inviting a few friends over to watch an Academy screener and "someone" whom I choose not to name, blatantly ratted me out to an actor's website and included a link to my page as well as personal contact info in hopes to get me in trouble. Like everything else she does, EPIC FAIL.
But, I'm clearly beyond dredging up past drama. Clearly.
As I said, life is good. Ok, I didn't actually say that, but after seeing it in print, I agree with myself.
The reason for flaking was because I was invited to watch MY LA Kings from a luxury suite at Staples Center and that's something, I will always cancel other plans for. So be forewarned. Another thing is ..it was against the Detroit Redwings and another, the Kings had won 8 games in a row, tying a franchise record and were looking to set a franchise record for most wins in a row at 9. And I had to be there.
And so I was. After spotting the RedWings a 3-0 lead after one period, the Kings came back to win the game and I was able to witness history.
It ended 30 minutes before The Pee Wee Herman Show, the live (+ puppets) stage rendition of his TV show from the 90s that I swear I never watched although, I'm a Pee Wee Herman fan. I used to even do a keen vocal imitation back in the day...before I had balls with hair. Although, I know that's a gross image and has been rectified. Another gross image.
Anyway, I had been hearing rave reviews of the show and it was closing weekend and I was literally across the street so I had to see it. Apparently, it was sold out, so I stood out in front asking if people had "extra tickets" and although embarrassing, I was able to snag a $80 ticket for $30 and got to watch the show. I must admit...it was strange seeing Paul Reubens still acting as Pee Wee and even stranger was the audience participating as many were intoxicated. In fact, the 30 ish year old woman next to me was double fisting beer as she recited lines and songs from memory. Clearly, she had seen the program a few times growing up and she was....re-connecting.
Other than the oddness (of which I was not able to get photos of due to my Droid deciding to have a short battery life), it was FUN. *ALHASDHDLFDALKF *yells*
That's the secret word.
