"Give me a V"

Today marks one week of being a vegan for me. And I must say, it's hard as hell. It's odd to think that my conversion was initiated, processed, and completed in just a matter of minutes after watching Rise Against's "Ready to Fall" video and looking at a bunch of stuff online. (Might I add, if you're gonna watch the video watch it at peta2.com ( Read more... )

as i read about your mom's cookies, a tear streamed down my face.
man... i'm gonna miss those suckers, they are mmm mmm GOOD!
ah well.

i totally understand what you mean about not understanding vegans.
i don't understand them either, they're freaks!
haha just kidding.

i do get what you mean though, and its totally understandable. i dont think the whole concept of being a vegan can be understood except by people who has researched this kind of stuff. alot of the times, vegans are people who think its wrong to eat animals and any of their products. but as you know, in my case, i dont think that. i think its okay to eat them, but i dont agree with the way humans have made it out to be an extremely inhumane process in order to make it easier, more productive and profitable, and i just choose not to be a part of it. the whole vegan thing would take forever to explain, and i'll do it extensively in person sometime, but in a nutshell:
its simply to further detach myself from playing a role in the consumption of goods that come from suffering animals.
lately i've found that in some ways, animals used for dairy get treated even worse than those for meat. for example, cows who are used for milk are constantly kept pregnant so that they will produce milk. this goes on for years, and it physically drains them. it causes such exhaustion to their bodies (which is just NOT natural) that they end up having life spans that are MUCH shorter than that of a normal, healthy cow grazing on happy green grass... haha. no really though, like 5 years instead of 25.
same goes for chickens (egg stuff). same kind of crap, except also i've read about so many instances of chicken torturing (ripping off their beaks, poking out their eyes, breaking their little legs, slamming them against the walls) that is practiced by the employees just because they are bored, that i refuse to support farms/factories where this type of thing is going on.

i dont know rita... call me crazy, but that type of stuff just rips my heart to shreds. trust me, i've already gotten crap from my family and a couple friends for it, and i am not looking forward to some of the bashing i'm gonna get. and i don't expect people to be able to do it. just like my vegetarian stance, i think it would be wonderful if the whole world would/could do it, but i dont think any less of anyone who doesnt. but i think it's a worthy cause for me to stand by.

nahmean??

Ok, so what are you going to eat when you come over?! OH NO!!!!! *researches vegan recipes for Coral* LOL! :)

I wasn't trying to imply that I thought you were stupid for doing it. I actually admire your dedication and self-control because I know I'd just die of starvation if I had to do it. I really like that you're doing it for something you believe in.

I don't really know anything about animals in general, but it's awesome that you research this stuff and know a lot about it. See, when I ask you why you're doing it, you make me feel proud of you (instead of you just saying: "animals are treated badly"). You have a real reason.

The only problem I have with it is the health risks. I remember you telling me that one of your vegan friends told you not to be vegan because you would get sick or something. That's the only thing that scares me, but I'm sure you're taking the right pre-cautions.

It's sad that humans are so evil and do these horribe things to animals that can't fight back. Honestly, I hope you keep standing up for what you believe in. You're definitely a role-model.

So are you going to be a toothpick soon or what!?!?! What do you eat? Are there any fat vegans?

Hmmm... Lettuce, water, vegetables, fruits... Ok, I'm out of food.

GO CORAL!!!!!

P.S. Chicken thighs at El Pollo Loco aren't considered vegan, comprende? ;) LMAO!
