January 23, 2006 is Election Day
I just exercised my right to vote!
I couldn't keep from grinning, putting my ballot in the big cardboard box. No matter how frustrating this campaign has been (and living in Ottawa has certainly raised the amount of political fol-de-rol around me to an alltime high) and no matter the outcome, it feels good to put an X in the circle for the very first time.
I hope I remember this feeling when I'm tired and cynical and feeling disenfranchised. I hope I feel like this when I vote when I'm 30, or 50 or 70 years old.
Tomorrow Canada will be different somehow. And a teensy part of that difference will be because of me and my friends, for the first time ever.
