I woke up today and it was snowing! Since I didn't have to go outside today, I was pretty excited. A kitchen dance may have occured, but I'm not admitting it.
Then I turned on my radio and heard Bush announce they'd captured Saddam Hussein and a whole bunch of people cheered. It's so weird, the first thing I thought was "who's cheering?"
'Cause I can't imagine the (TV) West Wing press room yelling Huzzah instead of yelling questions. Who was he talking to?
Then I realised what a dumb train of thought that was.
Blair was on CBC, speaking about what the capture meant to the Iraqui people and yaddaya. It really confuses me, 'cause on the one hand I don't think Saddamm was a good leader by any definition, he is responsible for the death of many people. On the other hand, is anything really going to change? Terrorism isn't going to suddenly stop. And what are they even going to do with him? They can't kill him. And if they put on trial, who tries him? The UN? The Americans? The Iraquis? Yeesh. Everything in the world seems so morally complicated since I started actually listening to the news.
In other news, there are apparently sold in supermarkets great honking slabs of meat called " Pork Picnic Butt Portion". I've no idea what that means. Nice alliteration though.
Later, I fully intend to comment on Friday's Joan of Arcadia but right now I have to go beg for a cup of flour through song. Excuse me.
