The morning after, Shige tried to recall the events of last night as he saw the damage he’s done to their room and then his eyes landed on that piece of paper that turned his world around. He grabbed the most decent looking clothing in the room and headed out to get some fresh air while Aya pretended to be asleep until Shige’s out the door. She slowly rose from the bed with a feeling of defeat from a woman she only knows as Kato Shigeaki’s wife.
That woman better love Aki as much as loves her

Meanwhile Maki on the other hand was released from the hospital after much persuasion and whining that the doctor could only sigh in defeat and let Maki get out of the hospital. She was accompanied by Yuya and little Sarah.
“Is Himiko-chan no mama okay now?” little Sarah asked as she looked worriedly at Maki
“Yup. I’m okay now. Thank you for asking Sarah-chan” Maki replied “By the way is it alright if you drive me to Te-chan’s house? I don’t feel like going home.” She then asked Tegoshi who just nodded then handed Maki his phone to inform Koyama where they’re going.
Hours later, they finally arrive to the place where Maki’s used to live and was greeted by her friend Te-chan. “Well this is a surprise. You don’t come here unless there’s something wrong” said Te-chan as she gave Maki a hug.
“Well sort off, As you can see” replied Maki pointing to her tummy.
“Isn’t it obvious.’ Then Te-chan noticed the little girl hiding behind Maki “and who is this
little girl?” “
“She’s my daughter” said Tegoshi then Te-chan looked at him as if she knows something, then little Sarah introduced herself much to Te-chan amusement.
“Let’s go inside, we don’t want a pregnant woman complaining right?”
Maki just smiled and lead the way back to ‘their’ house.
The house Te-chan’s living in was hers and Maki’s share house. There’s still a lot of Maki’s things inside the house like old pictures, her own ‘corner’ signage in the house and old books.
“This house feels more of home than my own” said Maki as she took a sit on her favorite armchair.Sensing that they’re going to talk about something heavy, she suggested to take little Sarah in their backyard to play and Tegoshi was sensitive enough to understand why. Once the father-daughter team was gone, Maki got straight to the point
“Shige doesn’t know I’m pregnant”
“Somehow I wouldn’t be surprised. You didn’t tell him you were pregnant with Yuya till you’re about a month into the pregnancy.”
“But this is different. I’m already this big and still he doesn’t know I’m carrying his twins and now he’s somewhere north for how long he’s staying there I don’t know----“
“Calm down Kato Sarah san! Remember you’re pregnant”
Maki took deep breaths to calm her nerves down
“Listen to me, if you’re husband is out somewhere doing whatever, why not do the same? Go somewhere south and enjoy the sunshine. Try to relax till your babies come out.”
Maki closed her eyes and imagined the sound of the sea, fresh air and sunshine then she said.
“Can me my kids stay here for awhile?”
“Hell no.”
“What? Why?”
“Spare the kids the travel and just drop by here over the weekend.”
“Can I stay here then?”
“You… you’re going to ask Kei-chan to take care of the kids huh?”
Maki just gave her a weak smile and Te-chan just shook her head
“You’re very lucky that his BFF is kind enough to do that for you guys”

Back at Koyama and the kids, Koyama prepares their breakfast while Himiko and little Yuya gets ready for school. Himiko feels angry at her papa for not coming to the hospital and for not coming home ASAP. Just then Maki’s phone rang and Himiko’s eyes went wide to see who the caller was and immediately grabbed the phone and answered.
“Papa!”
“Himiko?”
“Papa…”
“Himiko where’s Mama? Papa needs to talk to her”
“Mama’s not home yet, “
“Who’s with your mama?”
“Papa…why didn’t you come home yesterday?” now Himiko’s voice was shaking
“Hi…Himiko are you alright?”
“Himiko-chan is angry at papa!” then she started crying “Papa didn’t come home when Mama was rushed to the hospital!”
Shige was shocked to even formulate an answer since the other line was his daughter angry at him crying “Himiko… stop crying please…” but Himiko just cried harder “Shhhh baby stop crying”
With her crying, she caught her brother and Koyama’s attention and in an instant little Yuya rushed to where she was and tried to calm her down. Little Yuya saw his sister with his mom’s phone in one hand bawling her eyes out
“Himiko-chan… stop crying…”
And not a minute later, Koyama steps in and little Yuya got hold of the phone and hand it to Koyama
“Hello?” asked Koyama not knowing it was Shige on the other line
“Kei? Is that you? “
With the phone in hand, Koyama went out of the room and to a place where the kids won’t hear him
“Shigeaki Kato where are you?!” exclaimed Koyama. When Koyama completes Shige’s name he means business.
“I….I can’t tell you.”
“Shigeaki you better get your butt home ASAP!”
“Kei just tell me what happened to Sarah”
Koyama took a deep breath just to keep himself calm before replying to Shige “She suddenly collapsed. She’s alright now, Tegoshi’s with her.” Said Koyama putting much emphasis on ‘tegoshi’Shige went silent and decided to hang up while Koyama released the breath he was holding to get back to Himiko and little Yuya. Shige could feel his world falling apart. Hearing his own daughter cry because of him and not being able to be on his own wife’s side when she needed it was slowly tearing him apart. More confused than before, he vented his anger over at inanimate objects and cursed himself for being so useless.

Day after day Shige tried to contact Maki but failed. He sent her emails, left her messages but she never replied to neither. He wants to get angry at her but his voice of reason told him to keep his patience. Then it hit him, what if she’s still with Tegoshi? And Koyama’s with the kids? Well what if that was the case? Would that even matter? Right now he needs to talk to Maki. So when he dialed Tegoshi’s number he was expecting Tegoshi to pick up but he was surprised to hear his wife’s voice on the other line.
“Sa…Sarah?”
“Shige…” replied Maki in a voice so calm that it sent shivers down his spine
“Why do you have his phone?”
“He lent me his, since I left mine at YOUR house”
Now that hit a nerve
“Himiko said you were rushed to the hospital”
“You talked to her?”
“When I called you she’s the one who picked up. Are you feeling better now?”
“What do you think?”
“Sarah I’m sorry…”
“Your apology won’t get you anywhere Shigeaki”
“I know… but please Sarah…”
“Please what Shigeaki?” now her voice starts to crack
“Sarah don’t cry”
“Who even said I was crying? Stop assuming Shigeaki”
“What do I need to do---“
“Come home.”
“I... can’t. not just yet.”
“Shigeaki what is more important? Me, You or your family?”
Shige can’t formulate an answer that lead to Maki hanging up on him. He wanted to hang himself for ruining the chance to reconcile with his wife. Why can’t he just say yes and go home, confront his problem and get this over with? Stupid pride and insecurities were getting in the way to finally resolve his dilemma.

“Talking to your husband I assume?” said Te-chan as she handed her a box of tissue
“Is it that obvious?”
“Your shoulders gave you away. So anyway how’s the talk with Atty. Kato?”
“At times like this I wonder how in the world I ended up marrying him”
“Hmmm let me guess… you enjoyed it? Look how many kids you had with him”
“Is this conversation going to be R-18 or we’re sticking to rated PG?”
“Do you even want to?”
“Ma---!”

Weeks later Maki took her friend’s advice and went on vacation with the kids, Koyama and Tegoshi with little Sarah to Okinawa hoping that the time spent there would give them the much needed relaxation
“Mama can we buy ice cream?” asked Himiko as she spots an ice cream parlor nearby
“You guys stay here and we’ll buy ice cream” Koyama suggested since they’ve been walking around
for quite sometime now and Maki needs her rest.
“Uncle Kei I want chocolate please” said Himiko
“Mine strawberry!” said little Yuya
“Mint please” said little Sarah
“Alright. Now you kids behave okay?” Koyama reminded then left with Tegoshi to buy Ice cream. With the two guys gone, Maki felt like proud mom having many kids surround her. Then little Sarah felt the need to pee so she asked Maki to accompany her. Right at that moment Shige and Aya took a seat at a nearby café where the rest of the guys are. The first to spot Shige ad Aya was Koyama. At first he can’t believe it was Shige until he heard the other speak. Then in panic eh instantly grabbed Tegoshi to approach the unsuspecting lawyer.
“Kei where are we going? Sarah and the kids are over---- Shige?” his eyes were as wide as Shige’s in surprise
“Shige what are you doing here? I thought you’re up north?”
But Shige didn’t answer. Koyama was about to ask something when Aya came back
“Aki are they friends of yours?”
“Aki?” Koyama and Tegoshi asked in unison
Shige just nodded then he remembered something. “If you guys are here then that must mean…”
“Shige…”
Shige turned around and to his shock saw a very pregnant Maki with his kids and Tegoshi’s daughter
“You’re pregnant?!”
Maki refused to answer the obvious and replied
“You told me you’re going to Hokkaido Shigeaki. What the hell are you doing here in Okinawa and of all the people to be with my doctor?!”
“Your doctor? So what if I’m with your doctor? The issue here is you're pregnant and you didn’t tell me! You’re my wife for heaven’s sake! ”
with their parents quarreling, the Kato siblings went closer to their Uncle Koyama and covered their ears. It already breaks their little heart to see them fight hearing their exchange of words would break them
“And you’re my husband----“ suddenly Maki felt pain in her tummy and her water broke. All thoughts of arguing left his brain as he rushed to her side as Aya called an ambulance and attended to her patient.
“Kato-san take deep breaths” she instructed Maki
“Sensei why didn’t you tell me you knew my husband?”
“To be honest, I didn’t know you’re his wife”
Not a moment to soon, the ambulance arrived. Aya went with Maki while Tegoshi took a taxi with the kids to follow them to the hospital while Koyama had his hands firm on Shige’s shoulder and without asking why he stayed behind with the others out of sight. Koyama surprised his best friend with a punch to the gut that left Shige stunned to even fell the pain.
“Shigeaki Kato how could you do this to your wife?”
“Kei… you don’t understand…”
“No Shige you’re the one who doesn’t understand a thing! Telling your pregnant wife that you’ll be somewhere in a business trip when all the while you’re here having the time of your life!”
“I … I needed time for myself”
“How lame can you get Shige? You need time for yourself? For what soul searching?! Give me a break shige!”
“Even I tell you the real reason you wouldn’t understand”
“Try me.”
“Kato Yuya is not my son okay. Tegoshi’s son”
“That’s it?!”
“what do you mean that’s it?”
“That’s no big deal Shige”
“I knew you wouldn’t understand….”
“So what if he’s Tegoshi’s son?”
"Sarah lied to me Kei! Sarah lied to me! She didn’t tell me that that boy is Tegoshi’s son like she didn’t tell she was pregnant!”
“You really don’t understand don’t you?”
“Yes Koyama as a matter of fact I REALLY DON’T UNDERSTAND what’s really going on with my family and you seem to know it more than I do, so ENLIGHTEN ME.”
“As I said before, its really no big deal, the mere fact that little acknowledges you as his father is enough to be HIS father.”
“But the DNA test….”
“Shige remember this, it doesn’t need any blood relation to form a family nor does it need to have a DNA test to tell you who you should recognize as your family or whatnot.”
Koyama’s words went straight through him. He never expected to hear those kinds of words from his best friend of all people.
“By the way she tried to tell you… but you gave discouraging answers that’s why she kept it
from you”
“Kei I’ve ruined everything huh?”
“Not yet. Start fixing everything from here. Start with your kids. They’ve missed their father a lot.”

Hours have gone by, still Maki’s inside the Operating room. And at that time Koyama and Shige joined the others in waiting for the outcome. And suddenly, the doors opened and revealed one of the staffs in the operation room and was looking for Shige
“Kato-san, your wife is calling for you”
Shige hesitantly entered the room and was asked to wear the appropriate clothing.
Shige took a place beside his laboring wife and held her hand tightly.
“Sarah I’m here. Don’t worry”
In between pushing and taking deep breaths Maki still managed to hold a conversation with Shige
“Shige do you still love me?”
“Of course I do.”
“then if I asked for some space would you give it to me?”
knowing what she meant he hesitantly said yes
“thanks shige”
and with one last push, the sound of baby crying and was heard and then another
“We have twins?! It’s a boy and a girl!”
“that’s good” she faintly replied before dozing off to sleep

Weeks later Maki was released from the hospital but she ended up staying with Te-chan. Shige tried to talk to his wife via Te-chan but he only got a slap on the face in return. He didn’t even answer back when she did that, he knew that she has every right to do so. Until one day, Te-chan gave in but this time it was Maki who chose to turn away. Shige thought that all hope was lost but his kids had another thing in mind. Himiko dragged her Papa towards the garden area while little Yuya ‘charmed’ his mom out of the house to where Shige was. With their task done, the kids happily walked away hoping that their parents would make up.
“Long time no see Sarah”
“Yeah”
Then Shige enveloped his wife n a warm embrace and said, “Please come home, I’ve been so lonely without you and the kids”
“What if I told you I don’t want to”
“Then I won’t let you go until you say yes”
“Shige… can I ask you something”
“Why did you lie to me?”
“Because you lied to me too”
“About what?”
“About Yuya’s real father”
“Shige what are you talking about? You’re Yuya’s father”
“Please Sarah, stop the lying already. I already know ho he’s real father and just admit it”
Shige just tighten his hug around Maki while on the other hand just let herself be hugged
“Shige how can I admit to something I have no knowledge of”
“Please Sarah just admit that something happened between you and Tegoshi during the 10 yrs we’ve been together and I’ll forget everything.”
“No.”
“What?!”
“I said no. because nothing really happened between me and Tegoshi.”
“Then how would you explain the result of the DNA test huh?”
“You went as far as to have a DNA test? Are you doubting my loyalty to you?”
“is there a reason not to?”
“You know what Shige. Let me go. This conversa---“
Then Shige surprised her with a kiss. he hoped that with this kiss, his feeling of longing would be conveyed. So when they parted, he looked directly to her eyes and saw what he was looking for.
“Come home Sarah.”
“When are we leaving?”
“Now”
“But before that, answer this first. Did something happen between you and my doctor”
“Almost. But in the end I can’t do it. I can never love another woman the same way that I love
you”

“So you mean to tell me they don’t have names yet?” asked Shige as he held one of the twins for the first time
“Nope” replied Maki
“then how do you call them?”
“Baby boy and baby girl… is there something wrong with that”
“Wha--- Sarah you better think of a---
”Shigekazu and Makiko”
“I like it.”
“You better”
“But I like you more”

The day finally came to tell little Yuya the truth. He asked the little boy out to have some bonding time.
“Papa is there something wrong?”
“Why did you ask that?”
“Well because you don’t look alright”
“Don’t worry about me, its just the weather” Shige took a deep breath and started. “Yuya, I… I’m not your real father”
little Yuya just looked at the ground and replied. “I know Papa…”
Shige eyes shot up and met little Yuya’s “how did you find out?”
“That day at the hospital, when mama called for you… a piece of paper was left on where you sat and I saw it.”
Shige was left speechless
“Papa…are you going to give me to my real father?”
“Yuya if you’re going to choose between me or your real father who would you choose?”
Little Yuya instantly hugged Shige much to other’s surprise “Atty. Kato Shigeaki would always be my Papa!”
Shige didn’t know that Tegoshi and Koyama were nearby and heard everything.
“So what are you going to do now?” asked Koyama
“I don’t know… I’ll just let Yuya choose and I’ll be happy with whatever outcome it may bring” replied Tegoshi then walked to the other direction with Koyama following closely behind.

“Your doctor? So what if I’m with your doctor? The issue here is you're pregnant and you didn’t tell me! You’re my wife for heaven’s sake! ”
with their parents quarreling, the Kato siblings went closer to their Uncle Koyama and covered their ears. It already breaks their little heart to see them fight hearing their exchange of words would break them
“And you’re my husband----“ suddenly Maki felt pain in her tummy and her water broke. All thoughts of arguing left his brain as he rushed to her side as Aya called an ambulance and attended to her patient.
“Kato-san take deep breaths” she instructed Maki
“Sensei why didn’t you tell me you knew my husband?”
“To be honest, I didn’t know you’re his wife”
Not a moment to soon, the ambulance arrived. Aya went with Maki while Tegoshi took a taxi with the kids to follow them to the hospital while Koyama had his hands firm on Shige’s shoulder and without asking why he stayed behind with the others out of sight. Koyama surprised his best friend with a punch to the gut that left Shige stunned to even fell the pain.
“Shigeaki Kato how could you do this to your wife?”
“Kei… you don’t understand…”
“No Shige you’re the one who doesn’t understand a thing! Telling your pregnant wife that you’ll be somewhere in a business trip when all the while you’re here having the time of your life!”
“I … I needed time for myself”
“How lame can you get Shige? You need time for yourself? For what soul searching?! Give me a break shige!”
“Even I tell you the real reason you wouldn’t understand”
“Try me.”
“Kato Yuya is not my son okay. Tegoshi’s son”
“That’s it?!”
“what do you mean that’s it?”
“That’s no big deal Shige”
“I knew you wouldn’t understand….”
“So what if he’s Tegoshi’s son?”
"Sarah lied to me Kei! Sarah lied to me! She didn’t tell me that that boy is Tegoshi’s son like she didn’t tell she was pregnant!”
“You really don’t understand don’t you?”
“Yes Koyama as a matter of fact I REALLY DON’T UNDERSTAND what’s really going on with my family and you seem to know it more than I do, so ENLIGHTEN ME.”
“As I said before, its really no big deal, the mere fact that little acknowledges you as his father is enough to be HIS father.”
“But the DNA test….”
“Shige remember this, it doesn’t need any blood relation to form a family nor does it need to have a DNA test to tell you who you should recognize as your family or whatnot.”
Koyama’s words went straight through him. He never expected to hear those kinds of words from his best friend of all people.
“By the way she tried to tell you… but you gave discouraging answers that’s why she kept it
from you”
“Kei I’ve ruined everything huh?”
“Not yet. Start fixing everything from here. Start with your kids. They’ve missed their father a lot.”

Hours have gone by, still Maki’s inside the Operating room. And at that time Koyama and Shige joined the others in waiting for the outcome. And suddenly, the doors opened and revealed one of the staffs in the operation room and was looking for Shige
“Kato-san, your wife is calling for you”
Shige hesitantly entered the room and was asked to wear the appropriate clothing.
Shige took a place beside his laboring wife and held her hand tightly.
“Sarah I’m here. Don’t worry”
In between pushing and taking deep breaths Maki still managed to hold a conversation with Shige
“Shige do you still love me?”
“Of course I do.”
“then if I asked for some space would you give it to me?”
knowing what she meant he hesitantly said yes
“thanks shige”
and with one last push, the sound of baby crying and was heard and then another
“We have twins?! It’s a boy and a girl!”
“that’s good” she faintly replied before dozing off to sleep

Weeks later Maki was released from the hospital but she ended up staying with Te-chan. Shige tried to talk to his wife via Te-chan but he only got a slap on the face in return. He didn’t even answer back when she did that, he knew that she has every right to do so. Until one day, Te-chan gave in but this time it was Maki who chose to turn away. Shige thought that all hope was lost but his kids had another thing in mind. Himiko dragged her Papa towards the garden area while little Yuya ‘charmed’ his mom out of the house to where Shige was. With their task done, the kids happily walked away hoping that their parents would make up.
“Long time no see Sarah”
“Yeah”
Then Shige enveloped his wife n a warm embrace and said, “Please come home, I’ve been so lonely without you and the kids”
“What if I told you I don’t want to”
“Then I won’t let you go until you say yes”
“Shige… can I ask you something”
“Why did you lie to me?”
“Because you lied to me too”
“About what?”
“About Yuya’s real father”
“Shige what are you talking about? You’re Yuya’s father”
“Please Sarah, stop the lying already. I already know ho he’s real father and just admit it”
Shige just tighten his hug around Maki while on the other hand just let herself be hugged
“Shige how can I admit to something I have no knowledge of”
“Please Sarah just admit that something happened between you and Tegoshi during the 10 yrs we’ve been together and I’ll forget everything.”
“No.”
“What?!”
“I said no. because nothing really happened between me and Tegoshi.”
“Then how would you explain the result of the DNA test huh?”
“You went as far as to have a DNA test? Are you doubting my loyalty to you?”
“is there a reason not to?”
“You know what Shige. Let me go. This conversa---“
Then Shige surprised her with a kiss. he hoped that with this kiss, his feeling of longing would be conveyed. So when they parted, he looked directly to her eyes and saw what he was looking for.
“Come home Sarah.”
“When are we leaving?”
“Now”
“But before that, answer this first. Did something happen between you and my doctor”
“Almost. But in the end I can’t do it. I can never love another woman the same way that I love
you”

“So you mean to tell me they don’t have names yet?” asked Shige as he held one of the twins for the first time
“Nope” replied Maki
“then how do you call them?”
“Baby boy and baby girl… is there something wrong with that”
“Wha--- Sarah you better think of a---
”Shigekazu and Makiko”
“I like it.”
“You better”
“But I like you more”

The day finally came to tell little Yuya the truth. He asked the little boy out to have some bonding time.
“Papa is there something wrong?”
“Why did you ask that?”
“Well because you don’t look alright”
“Don’t worry about me, its just the weather” Shige took a deep breath and started. “Yuya, I… I’m not your real father”
little Yuya just looked at the ground and replied. “I know Papa…”
Shige eyes shot up and met little Yuya’s “how did you find out?”
“That day at the hospital, when mama called for you… a piece of paper was left on where you sat and I saw it.”
Shige was left speechless
“Papa…are you going to give me to my real father?”
“Yuya if you’re going to choose between me or your real father who would you choose?”
Little Yuya instantly hugged Shige much to other’s surprise “Atty. Kato Shigeaki would always be my Papa!”
Shige didn’t know that Tegoshi and Koyama were nearby and heard everything.
“So what are you going to do now?” asked Koyama
“I don’t know… I’ll just let Yuya choose and I’ll be happy with whatever outcome it may bring” replied Tegoshi then walked to the other direction with Koyama following closely behind.
