The long anticipated journal entry
Holy shit it's been over a week since i wrote in this thing. I haven't really told anyone about this journal, but it's cool that people read this anyway.
I'll try to catch up a little. The weekend at the Harlow Lake cabins was pretty fun. I did lots of hiking which is always fullfilling. Some people just sat there all day eating and drinking. People started getting smashed before 3 in the afternoon. I figured if i'm gonna get drunk and eat a lot, I have to earn it, so I thought taking an afternoon hike would accomplish this. Later that night we played drinking games and did some drunk sledding until someone slammed into the tree. We thought we'd stop before we had to go to Marquette General.
Today's been pretty cool. My only class on Wednesday was cancelled so I started my day going to the Portside for lunch with Dave and Amanda. I haven't been there in a while. It's a nice place.
I also finally met with the man who will hook me up with a summer internship. I will hopefully be spending my time advocating an ordinance for a riparian buffer alongside all of Marquette county's waterways. This would require the vegitation to remain along riversides for up to at least 25 feet and ideally 50. For things like wetlands and steep slopes it must be more. To make a long story short, this ordinance will greatly help things such as water contamination, aquatic life survival, constant temperatures, and yada yada yada. I would have to talk to city officials and board meetings at the 19 townships in Marquette county and I might even get paid for it.
