Snippets from the new Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute Album CD were officially released, and I'm just like AHHHH SAILOR MOON FEELINGS. ;A; I'm usually not one to "fangirl" over stuff, but when it comes to some of the music in Sailor Moon (well, let's be honest--Sailor Moon in general), sometimes I just can't help myself. XD

I posted a list of all the contributing artists and such on my podcast Tumblr here, for those who're curious/can't read Japanese.

Track 1 - "Moonlight Densetsu": A good cover. I've heard so many covers of this song over the years that sometimes I'm just immediently like "ugh" *SKIP*, but this one's not bad. Definitely much better than some I've heard. Helps that the track's music is fairly close to the original--when artists change the entire style of Moonlight Densetsu's sound, I have trouble getting into it.

Track 2 - "HEART MOVING": I didn't think I'd like a dance-y cover of this song, but I think it actually sounds pretty cool?? XD They added a faster beat to it, but there's still some dreamy sort of piano stuff in there that gives a good nod to the original. I was never TOO big on the original, to be honest, so I like this!

Track 3 - "Princess Moon": The singer's kinda nasal-y, but I like the pop-song-sounding drums they added to this. It made me think of a 60's pop song, or a Shonen Knife track. I think this one will grow on me.

Track 4 - "Otome no Policy": Ok WOW I really...do not like this. Whisper-y baby voice is not really my favorite sound when it comes to singers, female or otherwise, so this just made me go "Eww." Otome no Policy is actually one of my fave ending tracks because it's so strong and positive sounding, and this singer's voice basically takes all of that feeling away, so I'm rather disappointed in this clip. There sounds like there's no emotion behind it whatsoever--like it's being sung by a robot, or Rei Ayanami. XP And it sounds like she sings that way for the entire track, too. Yuck.

Track 5 - "La Soldier": AHHHHHHHH OMG. Seriously, I was SO THRILLED when I heard the clip of this. I love La Soldier, I love Tommy Heavenly6, I love the pseudo-heavy metal sound she did for the cover. I seriously can't wait to hear the rest of this song. This one is, by far, the #1 song I'm looking forward to hearing. It sounds GREAT. I knew when they announced she was gonna be on this CD that I wouldn't be disappointed with what she contributed, and so far I'm definitely not. XD

Track 6 - "Ai no Senshi": Again, another favorite of mine, so I was super pumped to hear it on this. I'd never heard either artist whose involved in covering this version (since it's kind of a duet?), but it's really strong, and I like it. I REALLY had to Google on who this "Avu-chan" person was, apparently they're the front-person for a band called Ziyoou-vachi (I'm so out of the J-music loop, lol). He and Mariko Goto sound really good in this clip, so I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest because I think it sounds awesome.

Track 7 - "Tuxedo Mirage": I will fully admit that this was like...one of my FAVORITE songs when I first heard it way back in the day, so it brings back all these nostalgic "ahhhh dreaming of TWU WUV" teenage feelings whenever I hear it XD;; *hides in shame* I honestly think that Momoiro Clover Z might sound a little TOO YOUNG for a lovey-dovey, slower song like this? I mean, it sounds alright, but it feels weird hearing younger-sounding voices sing a love song to me, I guess. (Which when you think about it is pretty DUMB, yeah, but I dunno.) But it's not BAD. I guess it just needs a chance to win me over, lol.

Track 8 -  " ‘Rashiku’ Ikimasho": Another nasal-y singer, this one even moreso...but she sounds cute, and it's a cute song that's generally associated with Chibi Usa, so I guess that it's ok that it sounds more childish. Not my favorite, but not bad. I'd have to listen to more of it, I think.

Track 9 - "Sailor Star Song": Ok, so the irony of Sailor Galaxia's voice actress singing the opening to Sailor Stars isn't lost on me. But...I dunno, there's something about her voice...I can't really put my finger on it, maybe it's that she sounds a lot OLDER than she really is? She also has that "ojou-sama" sort of quality to her voice, imo, that I have a hard time taking seriously for this track. I dunno if that actually makes sense, though, lol, sorry. (It is early in the morning...my brain might not be functioning properly yet. xD)

Track 10 - "Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto…": This track was actually done by the artist who did one of my favorite opening songs for Rurouni Kenshin, so I was looking forward to hearing it. At first I thought it sounded kinda odd, but the more I listen to the clip, the more I like it, so hopefully the entire track will be that way.

So what do you guys think? (Well, if you're a Sailor Moon fan...if you're not, I suppose you probably don't care, lol. ;D) I'm really looking forward to the entire CD, I know they announced a bonus track of "Moonlight Densetsu" in French, but I'm kinda hoping they'll announce more bonus tracks, too. *crosses fingers*

...now I'm gonna have Sailor Moon songs stuck in my head all day. X3

earworm, shut up i still love sailormoon orz, geekery, music
