Happy November!

Well, Halloween was good but also kind of a bust.

While I was out and about, running errands & doing my weekly weigh-in, I was happy to see that I'd lost about 2lbs last week. (Yay!) I also went through another mini cleaning binge and gathered a small pile of DVDs & books to take to Hastings to trade in (well, it helped that they sent me a VERY good coupon in my email, too--$10 off a $20 or more purchase). I figured I'd probably get like $20-25 for what I brought (some old TV show box sets I hadn't watched in ages and some books), but I ended up getting nearly $47 in trade in credit! NICE.

Of course, I probably wasn't the only one who had decided to make use of that credit, because sadly...everything I'd been thinking of as a possibility to get was gone or not the version I wanted. :/ Our local Hastings can be kinda slim-pickings, anyway, which doesn't help...but last time I'd been there, they had the new release of the old Space Pirate Captain Harlock box set: nope, out. Rose of Versailles box sets? Nope. Whisper of the Heart blu-ray? Nope again! So I looked through the manga...no Tropic of the Sea, all out of the new vols of Sailor Moon I'm behind on, and even the copy of Gundam: The Origin that had been sitting there for ages was finally gone! I even looked for stuff I was considering for some people's Christmas gifts and didn't find anything I had in mind, either.

But I still managed to get some good stuff, anyway:

I'd been wanting to pick up the new Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine since it was announced--I'd watched the whole thing on Hulu and LOVED it. And with that $10 off coupon, it was around $38 instead of $48, which was even cheaper than Amazon. I was also shocked to find the first 2 volumes of Udon's Silent Mobius re-release for $1.99 each! (Ocassionally, Hastings prices their used manga insanely cheap--I dunno if it's just to get rid of it or what, but hey--I'm not complaining.) It was used but whoever owned it before took great care of it because it's practically brand new.

And the Yusuke Urameshi keychain...I actually found in the parking lot while walking to the bus stop. XD This amused me because it seemed fitting for Halloween, seeing as he spends a fair time in Yu Yu Hakusho being dead.

The weather actually cleared up most of the evening, but I think some parents had been paranoid about it (it'd been POURING non-stop all night and this morning/early afternoon), so I think a lot of trick-or-treaters opted to go to the mall instead...we got ZERO trick-or-treaters--a first for us! We at least got a handful every year. It also didn't help that the new neighbors across the street from us TOTALLY decorated their house (while ours was very sparsely decorated), so I think any kids just opted to go there and skip us. I've been saying this for a while, but next year I really want to make some cool decorations for the front yard. XD

Zack & I spent the rest of Halloween watching fun stuff on Netflix/TV/DVD (The original House on Haunted Hill, Peanuts Halloween special, Garfield Halloween special, Evil Dead 2), trick-or-treating in Animal Crossing, then having some delicious jell-o brains I made (raspberry-cheesecake flavored!) while watching the new Conan and @midnight. So it was pretty low-key, but all in all not too bad.

Good luck to any of you guys starting NaNoWriMo! I'm opting not to this year simply because I already have a bunch of stuff I should be doing...so I really shouldn't pile on another distraction. XD;; Anyone going for it this year? What kinda stuff are you writing? I'll be rooting for you guys to finish! ♥
