Sorry for not updating sooner, guys! I was going to a few days ago, but every time I'd go to LJ it was "down for maintenance"? What's up with that, LJ? :P
Anyway, I've been kinda busy since coming back from A-kon. Not just with getting my podcast up again (see previous entry for the "first" ep!), but just a lot of crap that needed to be done.
I'd forgotten how rushed we got with packing for A-kon, and when we got back I was reminded that it looked like our bedroom had exploded or something, it was so messy. -__- I started working on cleaning it and then--hey, guess what? We got offered a brand new bed from one of Zack's mom's coworkers (apparently she had a bed in her guest bedroom and they never used it and it was taking up space so they wanted to get rid of it, or something like that). Well, we jumped on that because while our old bed was super huge, it was also super OLD and flat and not very comfortable anymore. So then we had to take the old bed out (which was exhausting, lemme tell ya) and put the new one in, yadda yadda...which made me put cleaning on hold so I could get everything out of the way for this new bed...lol. (I know, funny huh? I had to stop cleaning to basically clean some more. x__x) BUT we finally got the new bed in and even though it's almost half the size of our old one, it's WAY more comfortable and nicer, so I can live with being squished closer to
nitrozsz I guess! XD heehee.
Speaking of Zack, he also started his new summer job at the local Children's Theater. Not only that, but he's been approved for MULTIPLE scholarships for his new transfer to a closer college (it's actually just down the street from us, lol, which is super convenient!). He's also been talking me up at the Children's theater (since I used to work stagecraft and stuff for the drama dept. in high school) and apparently they wanna talk to me about possibly getting a job there, too, eeeeee! ;A; That would be super awesome (I'd have to have contact with kids/children, but it wouldn't be like....constant, so I can deal with that. Plus most of them would be kids interested in drama dept. and stuff and usually kids like that are way easier to deal with, so yay.)
So yeah, as you can see, real life stuff just kinda hit us when we got back from the con. XD But now things are finally settling down again. I
updated my Etsy shop yesterday with a few new vintage items (like Japanese pattern books and a vintage MLP puzzle), for those interested. I'm hoping to add a few more things to my
LJ Sales soon, too, so keep an eye out. ;3
A-kon was a lot of fun this year. I won't bore everyone with all the specific details, but even with considerably less money this year, I had a blast. Zack did, too! He worked on A-kon TV this year and really loved it. (He'd worked on AV staff before, which I had stupidly assumed would be like video editing and such, but no--A-kon TV is where all that stuff happens. XD He liked it way better.) I went back to working Exhibition Hall because I hadn't been feeling 100% confident that I'd be a good fit for reg staff again. It worked out well, though I really super missed everyone on reg ;__; (And I was happy to hear that they missed me, too, awww <3) One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to meet Cathy Weseluck, who these days is best known as Spike on MLP: Friendship is Magic, but I know her best as the dub voice of Shampoo from Ranma 1/2. XD
(Not the best pic, and I'm making a goofy as hell face, but there ya go XD;;)
She was seriously SO SWEET, omg. The minute she saw me pull out my Ranma 1/2 Season 1 DVD set, she started in with the Shampoo voice, and I was blown away with how she sounded EXACTLY THE SAME. Like, she started doing Shampoo in the mid 90s! THAT WAS ALMOST 20 YEARS AGO. ;A; And she apparently loved my Arale hat, she saw the wings on it and did this thing where she put her hands on her head and made flappy sounds and asked me if I was gonna fly away now, lol. XD Here and I both kept doing Shampoo "Aiyaaaa!!"s to each other, too, lmao I know that's kind of stupid and lame but GAWD she was so cute. And then not even 5 minutes later, when Zack got his Death Note DVD signed, she scrunched up in her chair and did her Near voice and she sounded completely different. UGH SWOON. She is amazing. Seriously. I hate to gush, but she was one of the first female voice actresses I really liked back in the 90s, so this was super fun and awesome for me.
These are all things I purchased over the weekend:
All of which were great deals. (Esp. the Mikimoto artbook. LESS THAN $10! O__O lol)
These are all the things I got at the swap meet (for FREEEEEEE):
And these were things I got from the Exhibition Hall and the Artist's Ally:
The Lum print and the P-chan button I paid for, obviously. The One Piece DVD set I won in a raffle (sweet!) and the rest were freebies. The "Lupin III: Woman Called Fujiko Mine" I got autographed by the English voice of Lupin. :D Everything else were freebies~
I think it's safe to say that one of the highlights of the trip was getting to spend time with
sakuya_masaki and her husband in between stuff and after the con. (。´ ‿`♡) Seriously, it was so much fun!! We got to have dinner with them on Thursday, and afterwords we stopped by one of their local Half-Price Books (which I loooooove ugh why is there no HPB near me ;A;), where I actually found 2 HTF vols of Ranma 1/2 for my collection (going price on Amazon was $25-30 each, I got em for $5! X3) and a couple of other fun cheap goodies. After the con, they were kind enough not only to let us stay over in their beautiful home (seriously, wow, I wish our house looked as nice as theirs *__*), but they cooked us DINNER! \(; 3;)/ omg. And Heather & I had lotsa fun recording the podcast together (seriously, we talked for like 2 HOURSSSSSS, haha! We prolly could've gone on FOREVER XD). The next day, they also took us out for delicious Vietnamese food (EEEEE!) and dropped us off at the station so we could catch out train. AH. It was such a fun weekend. ;___; I wish they didn't live like 4 hours away. WHY DO ALL THE COOL PPL LIVE SO FAR AWAAAAAAAAAAAY?! (This just makes me wanna move to Dallas all the more, lmao.) I really hope we can do something like that again sometime, gosh, it was so fun. It was like hanging out with my friends back in Seattle almost cuz both Heather and her husband are around our age, like most of the same stuff, have similar tastes, etc etc etc which is just...so cool. ;__; I wish we had more cool couples like them to do stuff with. (TEXAS. *shakes fist in the air*)
EDIT: Ah, our internet decided to crap out on me yesterday (BOO-URNS), so I'm continuing this from before. (Thank goodness I saved a copy of this post in progress, lol.)
This last week has been pretty good, though, dispite some hiccups. Like I mentioned before, Zack got those scholarships, and his Summer job's been going well. Zack came home the other day and told me his boss at the children's theater wants to interview me Friday for a position for a Summer job as well (omg yay!). I dunno what it'd be paying, but since it'd just be temp. anyway, I don't really mind. ^^ My copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf FINALLY arrived in the mail (after it's been out over a week already, of course XD;;) I've only visited 2 friends towns so far, but both times were super fun. Once I get more stuff accomplished/made in the game, it's gonna be even better, I'm sure! I'm so excited about the game, it's almost pathetic. ^^;; But I can't help it, I love Animal Crossing, and this might be the best installment yet. If you haven't added me yet, let's exchange codes!
My native fruit is Pears, but I'm working on some apple, lemon, lychee, and cherry trees. Hopefully they'll bear fruit soon!
And finally on the good news front, I somehow managed to loose 9 and 1/2 lbs on my last weigh-in! ʘ‿ʘ Don't as me how that happened because I'm still not entirely sure, but I'm so super happy and proud...I have officially lost more than 10% of my starting weight now, and the gal who helps me weigh in (who's been there since I started) as so happy and proud of me, she seriously started to CRY, AWWW! ;A; But this has really inspiried me and made me feel awesome, so I'm hoping I can carry this to the next week, too. Yay for getting more healthy! *happy dance*
Ok, this post is getting long so I'll end it here. I hope all of you in LJ land are doing well. I missed you while I was gone/busy! ^^
