Thank you to all who left me b-day messages and such, either here or whatever other social media place I'm on, lol. XD I was so touched, I really do know some of the nicest people. Really. ;3; *hugs to all*
My b-day wasn't anything crazy-spectacular, but it was a nice one all the same. I got a huge surprise when my sister sent me an Amazon e-gift card (of $50!! O__O), and Zack's mom gave me a funny Wizard of Oz themed bday card with another Amazon gift card in it ($25! AHHH!!). But what I was most surprised by was Zack's gift to me...he made me a voice acting demo reel ;___;

This totally floored me, because I've been TRYING to make my own demo reel for over 2 years...and I just got completely overwhelmed each time I tried, so it just never got finished. Obviously, it's just for amateur/fandub work, not a pro one...but hey, it works, right? XD (Also I was surprised that in less than 24 hours of me posting it, someone messaged me and asked me to audition for a project of theirs, haha, wow X3) Zack had me record the little beginning bit after revealing the surprise, and I quickly threw together a banner for the video, and viola~! Now I finally have something to have on my profile in VAA so scouters can get an idea of what I've done so far. Yaaaaay~! *happy dance*
Zack's mom was also kind enough to treat Zack & I to lunch on my bday (we tried a new-ish seafood place) and then wandered around Ulta and Target (to look at nail polishes I wish I could buy, hahaha, sob XD), and finally went to the movies to see "Oz The Great And Powerful" with my other bday gift, which was a movie gift certificate from my lovely friend Sarah (;3; ilu, imouto~!!). It was a lot of fun, we saw it in 3D and it was pretty good. Now, I know a lot of people hated that movie, but I enjoyed it. 1. Because as a kid I was TOTALLY OBSESSED with The Wizard of Oz (like, scarily-so. It's kind of embarrassing.) and 2. Visually it was a lot of fun to watch, I got a kick out of the great makeup, costumes, and even the 3D was excellent. Story wise it was predictable and all that, yadda yadda....nothing terribly amazing or surprising. But I mean, that's kind of to be expected...(at least, to me, I wasn't expecting Oscar-worthy dialog or plot, lol.) It was basically just a fun movie you watch for the prettyness and nostalgia, imo, nothing more. (If you want a more serious movie, go watch "Return to Oz", that one's way better XD) It was the perfect b-day movie for me. ♥
At home we basically just chilled and had some pizza later. I splurged a little and had a Reese's Egg and a Cadbury Egg I got on Easter clearance for like a dollar, and Zack's mom bought me a cake pop. So those things were my big birthday treats. XD It doesn't sound like a lot but then again, you might not have any idea on how much I love pizza and Reese's/Cadbury Eggs. (Hint: it's A LOT.) I also got to Skype with
eve, which was a lot of fun. Like I said, all in all, a great day. XD
Not only that, but the days after my bday have been pretty good so far. I won something for free off of Listia that I was worried would never come (the person seemed a little flaky), but it actually got to me yesterday:
The official, complete Gundam Wing series! (OH NOSTALGIA! I haven't seen this whole series since....geez, '99?) I actually already had the first box set, so I guess now I have an extra one to sell/trade in somewhere, but who cares?! I got this with the credits I got from some of the crap I swapped on Listia I found while digging through my old crap at mom's house, mwahaha~ Buying them both on Amazon would cost around $100, so this really made me happy. (I know, I'm such a dork, sorry.)
I also won another manga giveaway (whoo!!) for the first volume of "Onwards Towards Our Noble Deaths". I haven't read a ton of "historical" manga, so I'm looking forward to getting it and having a look-see. I hear it's pretty good, and it's done by Drawn & Quarterly (a publisher I don't think I've ever read anything from).
I've also had a couple more Skype chats with other friends, which have been fun. ;__; Ahhhh, these past few days really have put me in a nice mood. ♥♥♥ I want to try to carry this mood for the rest of the week, into the weekend. Feeling happy would sure help me feel more motivated with things I don't REALLY want to do (like work out and work on projects and all that junk.) I like feeling happy.
How have all of you guys been doing? I feel like I've been posting a lot of sad/depressed/etc stuff now, so being able to share happy things makes me feel good.
