So that happened

As most of you know, I lived most of my life in WA before moving down here to Texas. Specifically, in close proximity to Seattle, where I liked to go hang out when I had the time & money. Pike Place Market, while many people in Seattle scoff at it for being too "touristy" was always a favorite stop of mine (screw the haters! I love all the amazing food there, as well as the comic shop with the friendly staff). Located in the above-ground part of the market is the very first Starbucks location, which I've taken a few out-of-town friends to see when they were in the area (including Zack, when he visited me the year before I moved in with him).

Fast forward to yesterday: Hideo Kojima (you might know him as the creator of the "Metal Gear" games) is in Seattle right now for PAX. He has two Twitter accounts, one in Japanese and one in English. Many times for his English one, he links photos he's taken on his Japanese account and just translates them into English--which he did yesterday, linking this photo he took stating he was at the very first Starbucks, drinking a cappuccino:

I noticed instantly though that he had made a typical tourist mistake--he went to the large Starbucks that's across the street from Pike Place, thinking that was the "original" store. The original store, like I mentioned before, is inside the marketplace. But since it's so small and doesn't have large signage like a lot of people are used to, they miss it entirely and just assume that the huge one ACROSS from Pike Place Market is the one they're looking for. (In case you're curious, the original Starbucks looks like this. If you ever visit the market in the summer, you can almost find it from the huge line of tourists that usually forms outside. Like I said, it's tiny. XD)

So...I felt kinda bad, because that means Kojima went to it thinking it was sorta special, but in reality it wasn't...so I sent him a tweet with the photo I linked above & said the actual 1st Starbucks was down the block.

I don't know what I WAS expecting (usually when you @-tweet to famous/busy sorts of people, they don't reply back)...but a little while later, I saw him tweet this:

OH MY GOD! >__>

Which kinda made me laugh at first (what a reaction XD;;), but then I suddenly realized that not only had Kojima replied to me, but I had just proven something Hideo Kojima said to be wrong...in front of close to 200k of his Twitter followers. Which apparently made me feel embarrassed, because Zack claimed I turned bright red after that realization.

Whoops. orz

I just hope that maybe he'll get to go to the ACTUAL first Starbucks now, since it seems like he's still in the area. I still feel a little bad about pointing out his mistake, but hey...I guess not a lot of people out there can say they proved Kojima wrong, can they?

(Also, wtf is my life when shit like this is the highlight of my day. What the hell, me, get a real life XP)

whut, seattle fun times, i'll laugh about this in the future, geekery, rubbin' elbows with famous people lol
