I'd been meaning to make a real LJ post, and I was going to yesterday. But somehow, I managed to get a really nasty stomach ache that lasted almost all afternoon/evening. Thankfully, it went away with some ginger ale & pepto after awhile, but even so, it still lasted about 5 hours. =__= Which kinda pissed me off, because I had wanted to get some stuff done. Instead, I ended up trying to take my mind off of it by finishing some "Urusei Yatsura" icons (which I'll prolly post to
carelessmonday later), and when that didn't help, I crawled into bed and basically tried to sleep it away. It wasn't fun. ;3; I wish I knew what had brought it on, but at least that's over with.
Today was MUCH better, of course.
Zack had been wanting to go to this Barbeque place he'd seen on Yelp that was supposedly amazing, so we decided that we'd go for a late lunch to celebrate the raise he just got at work. I was a little surprised, though, because said Barbeque place was also a truck stop. XD But Yelp usually doesn't steer me wrong, so I said sure.
Cow statues up front welcome us to meat-y, BBQ goodness!
There was also cactus out front, which amused me (since I've been here over a year and hadn't seen any!)
I picked the rib meal, since I haven't had ribs in prolly 2 or 3 years. And holy craaaaaap, they were AWESOME! I didn't even have to pick up the ribs, the meat just fell off of them. X9 THANK YOU, YELP! I also got the mixed veggies (which were really good: carrots, squash, zucchini, and prolly more), rice casserole, and corn bread. It was delicious, and the prices where decent, too (less than $10 for each of our meals).
But of course, since this place was inside a big ol' Texas truckstop, we HAD to take a look around. (I'm a sucker for kitschy stuff like this.)
A GIANT cooler full of sandwiches. (Seriously, this was just one end of it!) The thing that amused me the most was all the champagne on the shelf above them. Champagne & a cheese sandwich = the preferred lunch of truckers!
This place actually had LOADS of wine and champagne, for some reason...but right in front, they had a whole huge display of these:
(I was tempted to buy one, just for the hell of it. Maybe next time XD)
Then, I discovered a whole section of their store that was devoted entirely to amazingly hot & ridiculous-sounding hot sauces--first up:
I'm assuming that is the mildest they have, because then I found this one:
(Any hot sauce that goes to all the trouble of gluing a plastic spider onto each bottle HAS to be serious business, right?)
And just when I figured that one HAD to be the hottest, I found this one:
DING DING DING! We have a winner! (I mean, C'MON GUYS, it's called SATAN'S BLOOD! What could be hotter than that?! XD)
They also had Texas-shaped pralines next to the register, but we were on our way out, so I couldn't snag a pic of one, myself, but
they looked like this.
A nice mail haul today, too! I was also happy to find that the 6%Dokidoki ring that had been sitting at the post office for the past 16 days (supposedly hung up in "customs") FINALLY came in the mail today!
6%Dokidoki is a Japanese brand (in case you didn't know), and the ring itself says "Doki doki", which is an onomatopoeia for a heart beat. (I've always liked that term, I think it sounds cute. ♥ ) It's so pink and sparkly and obnoxious--how could I not love it? XD
My folks also sent me a box of random vinyl records, which was a surprise. Apparently, they got a bunch from an old friend who was getting rid of stuff, and mom thought I might want some. D'awwww.
*yawns* Well, I think I had more to say, but it's getting late & I gotta work tomorrow, so...more later!
