I know most of my posts lately have been about workworkwork for me, but since that's pretty much 90% of what I've been doing lately, uh...yeah, sorry. XD
But at least this post about work is slightly more interesting.
I caught a guy yesterday trying to give me a fake $100 bill. I dunno if the guy made it himself, or if he got it from a friend, but it was slightly better than the last fake I caught a few years back. I always check for the watermark when I get a hundred, since that's the hardest thing to fake on the new bills, and when I held up this bill to the light? The watermark was of Lincoln and not Franklin. So, yeah, I did a double take and flipped my lane light on to call a manager over as soon as I noticed. When I did, the guy asked me what was wrong, and I said, "Oh, nothing, I just have to give this to my manager to check and to get change, it's no biggie. It'll just take a second." Since I've done this before, I was cool as a cucumber and wasn't worried at all.
The guy, on the other hand, freaked. "Oh, you don't have to do that," he said. "Give it back to me, I can give you a smaller bill." He tried to reach for it out of my hands, and I took a step back.
"No, it's no problem," I said, still calm. "It just takes a sec, we do it all the time."
"Nah, forget this!" the guy declared, and walked quickly away, and out the exit.
That was about the time one of the managers showed up, and I relayed what happened. She checked it out, as well as our security guys, and it was confirmed that I was right--it looked like someone had bleached a $5 bill and printed a $100 design over it.
So of course, that made me feel pretty awesome for the rest of the day, cuz I kept getting congratulated by random co-workers on having a keen eye. The funny thing is, most of the other cashiers that were on the clock at the same time as I was were brand new, and I have the feeling that if the guy had gone to anyone else's lane, they probably would have taken it. So, yeah, bragging rights, yo. XD
Today was my first day off in a while (well, unless you count the day I had to call out of work for getting what I suspect was a mix of bad food & stress :/), and I spent half of it sleeping in, and the rest getting a nice pile of holiday mail ready to send out. (Presents back home to my family, that kinda stuff.) Tomorrow I get to actually go to the post office and mail it...which I'm SURE will be lots of fun. (Yay for holiday lines. :P) But it'll be worth it, and I'll feel much better once it's done, I'm sure. (Working pretty much full time has at least given me a little more money than I thought I'd have, so at least I was able to get some fairly decent gifts for my fam.)
Regardless of all the work, and feeling exhausted 24/7 lately, I actually AM trying to enjoy the Christmas season. All the decorations we have up in the house make me feel all warm and fuzzy, and I seem to be getting a Christmas card in the mail every other day. Every so often, I feel a little down that I'm so far away from so many people I care about during the holiday, but things like that really do cheer me up. It's nice to get reminders that there are people out there who love and miss you, I guess, eh? ♥
work work work,
exciting isn't it?,
