Update on the Finnster
Finn's been home since about 6:15. Poor little guy was mucho fucked up when we picked him up, but not in a panicky way. He slept inside my jacket while Alli drove us home, because there was NO WAY he'd fit back in the carrier with the e-collar on, and trying to get him in there would have been cruel and scary.
He's been quite insistent that he needs cuddles, and then gets down to wobble around, and then comes back for more cuddles possibly because Arlo keeps hissing at him and he can't control his bladder and he's tired and everything is upsettingly spinny.
Jay and I finally got him to settle on a nice cushy fleece cat bed by wrapping up a hot water bottle and leaning his back against it. Our place is inadequately insulated (to say the least) and if he's feeling the cold, I want him warmed up. Aha, poor guy just sat up and gave me sad-face, so I helped him change position and now he's hunkering down again.
Funny-but-also-sad: he's already tried backing out of the e-collar, and rolled onto his back twice from his efforts. He's had moments of growliness, but no crying or hissing, even when confronted by Arlo. He really is a sweet boy, though he can be an utter shit to Arlo when he's bored.
