My mother is on the warpath against Halifax's bid for the Commonwealth Games and keeps sending me loads of articles from back home on the debate. Recently, the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission has begun asking customers for spare change to support the bid. Because I guess wanting to host a sports event that would drive the province further into debt is equivalent to last year's spare change campaign which gave money to the children's hospital. Anyway, this was my favourite part of an article on the matter: "Three liquor stores that the Chronicle Herald visited in Halifax had small posters on display..." Wow, congratulations to the Herald sending their reporters to a place so unfamiliar to the journalist -- the liquor store! ;-)
