Jaejoong Focus

“Yunnie-ah! Pick up the stupid phone!” The pale lustrous man whined groggily despite his legs locking the younger man in place.

“I would, but that’d require me fighting my way there. I rather not,” Yunho chuckled as he pulled the other man closer.

Their peaceful slumber ended in less than 2 minutes as the incessant banging of the door woke them.

“It’s opened already, why don’t you guys ever try turning the knob!” Yunho yelled at the men who then barged in their room.

“And why don’t YOU ever pick up your phone?” Changmin glared at their leader. His face began to flush as he realized he was looking at his two hyungs tangled up half naked on the mattress.

“You know… two men should not be sleeping with each other that way. Or even sleeping with each other at all.” Yoochun appeared next to Changmin with a disapproved look.

Junsu’s head appeared from between the other two’s shoulders and looked at the scene with amusement. “Should I take a picture for YunJae fans?” He asked jokingly.

Jaejoong swiftly grabbed his pillow from behind his head and threw it at the 3 dongsaengs disturbing his sleep. The pillow, however, landed on their pissed off manager who appeared out of nowhere.

“Hyung!” Jaejoong quickly scrambled from Yunho’s body and the bed. “Mianhe! I wasn’t aiming at you!” Jaejoong apologized with sheepishly.

“You should be apologizing to me about making us late to the CF filming which we were paid 800,000 KRW to do!” Jonghyun shouted as he threw the pillow he caught onto the floor.

Jaejoong winced as the pillow landed on the floor and looked down.

“It’s my fault, hyung. Mianhe. We’ll be right down in five minutes,” Yunho said calmly.

The four left the room and only the two was left once again. Yunho watched as his best friend tried to hold in his tears. He lightly took Jaejoong’s hand into his own.

“Don’t worry. We’re not even that late,” he grinned, rubbing small circles on Jaejoong’s hand with his thumb.

“He doesn’t like me,” Jaejoong said dryly. He pouted looking away and puffed up his cheeks.

“How can you say that? Everyone loves you Joongie,” Yunho responded with a warm smile.

“Okay! That’s a wrap!” The director announced.

The five boys cheered and patted each other in the back. Filming CFs sounds easy but after a million takes for one shot, it gets frustrating. Not to mention it’s been 13 hours since they started and they haven’t even eaten yet.

“You guys did great!” The director praised as he walked toward the five with their manager following right behind.

“Thank you,” Yunho bowed lightly. “Sorry again for being late.”

“It’s alright, it always happens,” the director laughed. “Actually, I have a CF I want to have you do. Specifically you and Jaejoong-shi.”

“Just us?” Jaejoong asked with a surprise. He’s been working with Yunho for 6 years and there was never a schedule with just the two of them.

“Yes, just you guys. Your chemistry is amazing. This is a commercial for the brand HaHaHa and it’s about -” The director was suddenly interrupted by manager hyung’s cough.

“I think Yoochun and Yunho would be better together for this CF.” Jonghyun said to the director.

Jaejoong tried to not let his disappointment show, but he felt a drop in his stomach. Way to bring his hopes up…

“Bwahh? Me? Hyung, me and Yunho has as much chemistry as Changmin has with any male,” Yoochun laughed. “You can’t be serious.”

“It’s a refreshing visual shock. Consider it as a fanservice,” Jonghyun said rolling his eyes.

“Service to who? We don’t have fans to service. We’re so incompatible that we don’t even have a real couple name!” Yoochun argued. He doesn’t need to look at his soulmate to know how badly the lead singer wanted this.

“Hyung is right.” Yunho said in a tone that told Yoochun that the decision was final.

“Well any two Dong Bang boys would be perfect, so it’s fine with me,” the director successfully walked out of the tension-filled space.

Yoochun glared at Yunho with a hint of confusion in his eyes. Their eyes met as Yunho looked up and they spoke silently with each other.

“No use arguing with hyung,” Yunho’s eyes said.

“Stop being a pussy,” Yoochun’s eyes shot back.

And that was the end of that.

In the car ride home, the awkwardness hung in the air. Junsu, who was sitting in between Yoochun and Yunho, squirmed uncomfortably. He lifted his hand to brush Yoochun’s lightly to calm him down.

“When was the last time you guys had room changes?” Jonghyun asked suddenly.

Junsu felt Yunho stiffen up as he replied, “Never.”

“Ahh! That explains why some of you look so distant to each other,” said their manager who was trying to look as if he actually realized something.

“Do we really…?” Changmin asked, completely not noticing how obvious their hyung was bullshitting. “We spend every second of their lives together for the past years except for the 4 hours of sleep they barely get. How distant can we possibly be?”

“Yes REALLY.” Jonghyun glared at Changmin. “Starting today, swap roommates.”

Jaejoong looked down and stared at his lap, unable to look at their stern manager next to him. He bit the inside of his cheeks until he felt a sting of pain.

“What?! No way! I can’t sleep without Chunnie!” Junsu whined. His hands automatically grabbed onto Yoochun’s hand. The manager’s eyes fell on the two intertwined hands and looked away immediately in disgust.

“What’s with all these changes?” Yoochun questioned suspiciously. “You’re suddenly so demanding,” Yoochun said, looking at Yunho who was keeping his mouth shut.

Jonghyun ignored Yoochun and looked at Jaejoong. “Jaejoong, you don’t have any problems with it right?”

“No, we’re all fine. The changes aren’t that big,” Yunho answered before Jaejoong can.

“Of course. It’s never a problem for you. Let’s change members too, after all, it’s just a small change,” Yoochun retorted sarcastically. He felt Junsu squeezing his hands tighter and he immediately felt guilty for saying such things.

If they thought that the car ride was awkward, it was nothing compared to the silent elevator ride up to their apartment. And even that was nothing compared to the loud bang of the door slamming, followed by Jaejoong’s immediate direction toward the kitchen. Without saying a word, he put on his apron and began rummaging through the fridge, taking groceries.

Yunho signed and went into the kitchen. He grabbed Jaejoong’s arm and the older man immediately twisted his arm away.

“Why are you so mad? It’s just room changes,” Yunho tried to explain with a soft voice in hopes to calm Jaejoong down.

“It’s not important to you. That’s why it’s JUST room changes. Don’t make it seem like it’s only me, no one else is okay about this except you.” Jaejoong shot back, still not looking at Yunho. He began pouring out the vegetables left-over into the pot and rinsed the spatula.

“Why is everyone not okay with it? It’s not much of a difference,” Yunho cried. “We’re all brothers, I don’t see what a few hours sleeping with a different person is a problem!”

Jaejoong kept silent as he turned on the stove and began shoving the food around with his spatula.

“Jaejoongie…” Yunho began with a lower voice. “Haven’t we been too…close?”

Jaejoong stopped stirring for a moment. His heart stopped for a moment too.

All I want to do is to be close to you.

“Maybe we need this space… Hyung was talking to me before we went into the studio, he thinks… we’re kind of weird together. Abnormally close. That’s why he’s trying to make us spend less time together,” Yunho explained. He’s feeling guiltier by the minute, even though he knew he shouldn’t need to. Listening to Jonghyun describe to him how he and Jaejoong interact with each other made him begin to realize how weird it really was.

“Do you think that?” Jaejoong asked with a small voice.

“Think what?” Yunho winced at how pathetic that came out to be. It was obvious he knew what.

“Think we’re too close?”

“I mean… Jaejoongie. I love being close to you, but I don’t want others to misunderstand… you know?” Yunho was surprised at how much of a douchebag he sounds like with just two words.

How can I know?

“Yeah. He knows perfectly.” A voice belonging neither of the men spoke up.

Yunho turned around and stared at Yoochun’s pissed off face. “Yoochun…”

“Hyung. You should go out and help Junsu move your stuff out of his room.” Yoochun said with an icy stare. “I’ll be here discussing rules with my new roommate.” Yoochun walked pass Yunho and wrapped his arm around Jaejoong’s waist. He brought his mouth close to Jaejoong’s ear and whispered, “Don’t turn around. Don’t let him see you cry.” Jaejoong immediately began stiffly moving his hand to cook the vegetables again.

Yunho looked at the two men who were facing away from him, intimately whispering to each other.

“What do you mean roommate? I thought you just said Junsu was moving into the room…” Yunho tried to understand the rooming situation, but it was hard since for some odd reason he’s just starting to get angrier by the second.

“Yeah. He’s moving into the room. But both, you and Jaejoong is moving out because Changmin is going to be in that room, while Jaejoong and me stays in my room, and you get the single room that Changmin had.” Yoochun explained the new rooming plan without looking back at Yunho as he pretended to wipe sweat off Jaejoong’s face, although it was really the tears.

“Yunho hyung! Come here and help move your stupid rock-filled box!” Junsu hollered from the room.

“You should help him…” Jaejoong said lightly with a strangled voice. He cleared his throat and tried again. “Chunnie can help me in the kitchen.”

Yunho subconsciously clenched his fist, but let go as soon as he realized and took a silent deep breath. He slowly turned away from the two’s backs and walked toward his former room.

“He doesn’t know.” Yoochun said as he put the new sheets over Junsu’s old bed.

Of course he doesn’t know.

“I don’t think he even knows how he feels himself.” He continued while starting to put on the pillowcases.

Of course he doesn’t know.

“He doesn’t know what to do about hyung, that’s all.” He placed the pillows on the bed, making sure it’s in perfect position.

Of course he doesn’t know.

“He doesn’t know how much he’ll miss you in the mornings.” Yoochun sighed and swung his arm across the bed, presenting Jaejoong’s new bed to him.

Of course he doesn’t know.

“He doesn’t know how you feel about him.”

No, he definitely knows.
