Today was just, in general a good cooking day. And I gotta tell someone about it, and well, you're a bunch of someones.
First, for lunch.
I made a chicken salad (chicken breast, mayo, shredded sharp cheddar cheese and chopped black olives.) and had it open face style on a everything mini bagel square. Also some pretzels and homemade french onion dip. obviously, because i am 6, i washed it down with kool aid. (blue raspberry lemonade. its the best drink ever.)
then for dinner (for the rents and I) I planned on making a sheperds pie. While looking at the bajillion recipes online, i came across a "drunken shepards pie". (
http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,178,128181-247194,00.html) I modified the recipe a bit, i used guiness extra stout (cos they didnt have new castle at the gas station. classy.) i dont use any crust, and kinda just dumped the stuff in order, then made peaks in the taters with a fork and sprinkled it with paprika. also, no cheese to cook with, cos my daddy doesn't so much like anything dairy.
With the beer came a problem. This is quite a dry family, just by preferences, so I had this pint and a half bottle (bout a pint left in it) and like my mom always says... we dont waste food around here. so of course, i had to make a beer bread! (

Eeeee! for cooking dinner....
and oh yeah.. my mom still makes me drink milk with dinner, but you can bet i'm having leftovers with kool aid.
