I don't know
I don't think it's possible for anyone to live up to their own ideals. If they did, would those things really be ideal? Isn't an ideal something that's in some way unattainable? Isn't that what we strive for, or what we despair of ever reaching? We have these pictures of perfection, the ideal, but they're not attainable. It's not realistic. But somehow, ideals are necessary, at least in some small measure. Something must drive us to reach for better.
