Well, in an ideal version of this ending, Shepard would end up back on Earth amidst the rubble and be found by her ground team. Adenna sacrificed herself in this fic because she was tired of fighting, tired of losing the ones she loved over and over. She saw triggering the Crucible as a way to die heroically.

This was such an emotional kick in the teeth to write, so I'm glad you liked it.

She made rinds with him over the course of ME1, but had to leave him behind on Virmire. She wasn't planning on falling in love with him, though; she was crushing bigtime on Joker... We know how well that turns out, though.

This is a million percent better than what we got. Personally I would like to have survived, and been reunited with my LI, but I can deal with an honourable self-sacrifice, where it is my choice to do so, and the galaxy is relatively intact afterwards. This was logical. Sad, but logical. Nice :)

;_; I love this. And I pretty much agree 100% with la_libertine. Ideally, you know, alive and with Kaidan forever, lol. But I hate when you're forced into sacrificing yourself. I would have gladly done it anyway if they hadn't pulled that shit at the end. Ugh, yeah, sorry. Anyway. This little fic was super :') <3

This is basically my feeling with regards to Shepard's sacrifice - I planned from the beginning that Adenna would die at the end of ME3 if it was possible, but I wasn't happy with being forced into it. Hence my headcanon reboot.
