My sock pal has very narrow feet. And though I started Monkey socks, I could tell they were going to be too big. So I stalled out for a few days and then decided I would do some stranded knitting socks. I am not using a pattern, just kinda made it up as I went to get started. I am sure it’s not earth-shakingly new or original, but it is all mine, and I hope that it will be enough to make the socks really special for my sock pal. I am going to name them “Window Panes”.
Here’s another shot a little closer for better detail.
Saturday, shmoo and I went to
Wine in the Woods. We had a lovely time, and bumped into the fabulous Coleen. That morning, we went through the list of wineries attending and their wine lists online and made notes about what wines we wanted to try at what wineries. Sadly, the wines that shmoo knew he wanted from
Loew’s they didn’t bring with them, so we’ll have to make a trip out to visit them and grab some of it up.
Linganore/Berrywine has some wines he likes as well, but we can get them from our local store, as well as
Elk Run’s Sweet Katherine, so we didn’t count them as important to buy for the day. It doesn’t hurt that Linganore plans summer events every weekend all summer, and they are just down the road from Loew and Elk Run, so that’ll be a nice day trip for us sometime later this year.
As for the wines we did get…. We only bought wines that shmoo and I both agreed were really great, so we bought two bottles of Elk Run’s fresh Sangria, as it is FAB-U-LOUS. We also got a bottle of their Lord Baltimore’s Port. We got 3 bottles of
Tilmon’s Island Bramble Wood, a blackberry merlot, and 4 bottles of
Solomon’s Island Mango Symphony. And that should do us for a while.
And now, a meme.
Eleni from Holy Knit! Batman has tagged me with the 7 random things meme. So without further ado, here they are.
1. Colors have feelings for me, and when I try to describe a specific color I usually end up using feeling type descriptions. I couldn’t pick just one favorite color if someone tried to make me. Also, when I see the word gray, I think of a cool/charcoal/black based gray, and the word grey is a beige/brown based grey. I have no idea why.
2. I love to play Roller Coaster Tycoon. LOVE. I can spend hours designing and managing a park. I’m pretty good at it too. I think it’s because I worked in behind the scenes operations at SFoG for so long. But I suck at building the rides from scratch.
3. I’ve had dogs, cats, birds, a goat, a chicken, fish, and ducks as pets. My mom never let me have a ferret. Shmoo won’t let me have one either. He might however let me have a Chinchilla some day. “As soon as we don’t have any wood.” I’ll hold him to that promise. Adobe house, here we come!
4. Foodie Things: I only like “Chinese” style greenbeans. I don’t eat fish of any kind, except sometimes shrimp. And they have to be deviened, and not breaded, or I won’t eat those either. Tuna used to be the only fish I ate, but it turns out I am allergic to it, so I don’t eat it anymore.
5. I am 12 years and 9 months older than my only sibling. He started kindergarten my senior year.
6. I didn’t go to kindergarten.
7. I met shmoo playing World of Warcraft (WoW). 3 months later I was planning to move up here to live with him. It has to be the craziest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s also one of the best. (I’m just happy he didn’t still live in Alaska, it’s COLD up there people!)
