It works both ways. Jack learns this first.
After the bomb drops, his heart clenches at Juliet's name, as if he's known her a lifetime. Another life in which they were intertwined, complex, meaningful.
Sawyer's right. There's no going back.
Here - Kate came first.
Kate whose name feels dry on his tongue, bitter and empty. Residual effects. It's not her fault, and yet it is. He cannot reconcile the two. Doesn't know how Sawyer does it.
Maybe they never knew each other.
