Ahhhh! An update.

Wow it's been awhile. I'll do a little updating. Ummmm.... where to start.

We got a dog! Actually, my roommate Jess did... which means I get to play with her all the time and yet I have very little responsibility to take care of her (...and I'm not cheating on Beeche!). It's a win-win situation. Her name is Riley and she's a white mini-poodle who's about three years old. My roommate got her from a family friend back home.

I don't think I said this in a previous post, but if I did, then my apologies. I fixed up my room! I painted it a taupe color (sauteed mushroom, to be exact) and I got a ton of cheap furniture off of craigslist. Most of it was different colors, so I painted all the furniture with a black varnish and now it all matches. My bedroom seriously looks like a picture from a Pottery Barn catalogue, I've never had this nice of a room before. I'll have to post pics.

And we finally furnished our apartment! At work they were giving away a lot of the old sets (they do this once or twice a year, or so I've been told), and I got the old furniture set from Christine's apartment on 'Young and Restless'! It's a couch, love seat, and chair, all in decent shape. There were some old scripts from 1994 stuck underneath the couch, how cool is that? And the best part... it was free. Thank God for the perks of working in TV.

Speaking of TV, I have a new-ish job. I still work at Y&R, but I'm now a production assistant in the booth (which is where the director directs the show from, for all you non-TV people). I assist the two supervising producers and I keep track of the timings for every take that we do for each scene. Plus other miscellaneous stuff... I organize the lighting prints each day for the lighting directors, I pick the promos that air at the end of every episode (as in, "Tomorrow, on the Young and the Restless..." and then we show three quick clips; I get to pick them), and sometimes I do phone call scenes with actors, which is pretty fun (I talk to them on one end of the conversation, and then in editing they replace me with the real person). Overall I love it ten times more than being the receptionist. So work is good.

I went back east for a week in July to see my family on the Cape. I didn't know until the day before if I was going to only get off a long weekend for July 4th or if they were going to give me the whole week, but fortunately it worked out and I was able to see my family for longer. But there was major drama about that week off at work. It was so good to see my family. We played a lot of Texas Hold 'Em and Bethany and I watched about 15 episodes of 'The Office' (the American version).

In addition to 'The Office' being one of my favorite shows on TV right now, I just started watching 'Nip/Tuck' and I freaking love it. I'm watching it with my roommates; we go through about two episodes a night. We started with the pilot and we're almost through with season 1. SO GOOD. It's replaced the hole in my heart left by 'Six Feet Under,' which may be my favorite TV series of all time. I finally saw the series finale a few weeks ago and sobbed for the last fifeen minutes, it's so utterly sad to see that show and its characters come to an end. (And I saw Frances Conroy, who plays the mom on SFU, in a play in Culver City last weekend.... I made friends with the stage manager after show so I could meet her and I shook her hand and I almost peed my pants... I was in awe.)

Speaking of plays/musicals, I've been obsessed with the 'tick tick... BOOM' soundtrack lately. It premiered in LA awhile ago, and it's one of my top ten favorite shows of all time (which is saying a lot). I never thought I'd get to see it performed since Jonathan Larson (who wrote the show, and who also wrote RENT) died ten years ago, so I imagine it's not easy to get permission from his estate/parents to perform it. But the show was AWESOME-- Grace and I saw it from the front row, and we're going back in a week to see it again before it closes. And I pretty much want to have babies with the guy who plays the lead. He's ridiculously hot. And talented. Grace and I saw the cast perform with the national tour of RENT last weekend in a concert at the Grove (it was the first time the casts of RENT and tick tick boom have played together in the same city in New York, and Jonathn Larson's parents were even there). Adam Pascal hosted it (Carrie, I hope you're reading this!!), and the original Angel from B'dway and the film was in the audience. It was so cool... I was such a fan, rocking out to the music and getting pictures taken with people. And of course several Emerson people were there! I should have guessed... if you throw a RENT event, Emersonians will show up.

Ummm I think that's it? I'm sure more has happened, but that is the nuts and bolts. Life is good, but I think all the time about how I just want to travel and explore the world. What I really need is a job where I get paid a lot of money for doing nothing, and I can live anywhere.... I said that to my dad and he's like, "Well, you can either win the lottery or marry rich." To which I replied, "Both excellent options, Dad."

Adios, mis amigos! I'll try to post more often. There are a lot of ramdon things in my head that y'all might find funny if I ever wrote them down. If I haven't talked to you in awhile, I probably miss you (?) and I hope you are all well!!
