home sweet home...

I went home last week, and it was SO great. And filled with good people and times. Here's the quick update...

I took the red-eye home on Friday night and got to Hartford at 6:30am on Saturday, then went home to sleep for awhile. Then I went outlet shopping with my mom all afternoon and spent way too much money at the Gap (I'm weak when it comes to cute tops and frilly skirts). Then we walked along the beach at Hammonasset for over two hours and watched the sunset. Then dinner with mom and dad at home, and Scrabble with dad (one of my favorite things to do). On Sunday, I drove up to Providence and hung out with Beth all day. We had lunch and caught up on some things, then we walked down Thayer Street where I got new sunglasses and we indulged in some bubble tea courtesy of Tealux. Beth showed me her art studio and I was wicked impressed with everything that she's done; she's ridiculously talented and thinks in a really unique way. Then I drove up to Boston to surprise Zetas at the Zeta meeting!! Tons of people were there because Emerson kids had just gotten back from spring break and had lots of stories to share. I LOVE them all so much, and it was great to see the new members who just crossed. Then Monday through Thursday I worked at MeyerWire with mom and dad. I got to see my mom's new office at her new therapy practice, and it's gorgeous. They did a great job decorating. I love being a part of the normal, everyday routine with mom and dad; it's so relaxing. Dad and I nap or play cards at lunch, then we all watch 'American Idol' at night. It's not something I want to do day in and day out, but every once in awhile it's such a refreshing break to take part in my parents' daily life. And of course I got to hang out with the love of my life, Beeche, all week long. It's such a treat to spend time with my precious baby. Then on Friday I drove back up to Boston and hung out at a taping of THE EC all day! It was so fun. Mike and Paul even convinced me to play a lawyer in one of the scenes, so I was in a courtroom scene with Jade. I'm so proud of everyone involved in the show, especially those who were there from the beginning when it was a little show no one had heard of. And now Zetas practically run the whole thing! After that, I met up with LJ for our annual birthday dinner. We walked to the North End (amidst drunk party-goers who got started a little early celebrating St. Patrick's Day) and ate at a cute little place, talking for several hours over calamari and eggplant parm and pasta. So good. Then we took the T back to 6 Arlington and ate chocolate LJ got in London while catching up some more, then I drove back to CT late at night. And the next day (Saturday) my parents and I got up early and took the train into NYC. We did the lottery for 'Hairspray' tickets and my dad's name was the last one they called!! So my parents got to see the show in front row seats for only $25 and they loved it (I saw the show two years ago, also by winning the lottery). They even stayed after to get Diana Digarmo's autotgraph since my dad is a huge 'American Idol' fan-- how funny is that?! Then I went to TKTS and got a half-price ticket to 'Sweeney Todd' for the third row of the balcony. I LOVED the show; it was haunting and beautiful and the staging was perfect. Michael Cerveris is ridiculously talented, and who knew Patti Lupone could play the tuba?! (The actors double as the orchestra in the show and the play all the instrauments on stage, even accompanying themselves at times; they are so talented.) After, we walked around more and then went to Tony's for dinner-- had veal parm and my favorite dish there, a chicken/eggplant meal that is to die for. We had tiramisu for dessert (brought to me by some really hot singing waiters who belted out 'happy birthday'). So fun. The next day I laid low and packed, then went to the airport at night and flew back to LA. Lyns picked me up at LAX. Then I went to bed early because I worked at PASSIONS yesterday....

Which brings me to the job situation. So I almost got hired at DAYS two weeks ago, but it didn't happen. It was for a job that I was definitely underqualified for (a production associate position), but it was down to me and another girl from PASSIONS. Well, the girl from PASSIONS has been a fill-in production associate for two years... so she had way more experience than me, and in the end they had to go with her. Which is rather awkward since she's been training me to fill in for her job at PASSIONS (as an assistant to their executive producer). I worked there one day before I went home, and I'm working there twice this week (I'm still doing the ABC job the other days). I have more soap job drama going on, but I'm nervous to post it here in case someone finds it! So as it unfolds I will update. But as of now PASSIONS hasn't offered me a job (which might happen, since it was a trade-off with DAYS-- DAYS got PASSIONS' fill-in PA, and PASSIONS got me from DAYS). We'll see how it unfolds...

And now it's almost my birthday! Which doesn't mean much, since I really celebrated it at home last week with family and friends. But Terie' and I went out to the Cheesecake Factory last night in Sherman Oaks (sooo orgasmically delicious), and I'm going out with Tamar and other friends tonight to celebrate our birthdays. Good times. Alright, so there's the update! Peace out!!

PS-- I did something really funny last week. I signed up at campstaff.com again (that was how I got my job at the camp in Utah last summer). And while it's really out of the realm of possibility that I'll work at a summer camp this summer, I have this fantasy of working at this camp in Alaska now (it's 1.5 hours north of Anchorage and they need a waterfront director... which I would be completely qualified for). But the funniest thing about signing up for campstaff.com is that now all these camps are emailing me wanting to hire me for the summer! And even though I have no intention of working at a camp, it's such an ego-booster to get this emails that I haven't taken myself off the website yet, lol. So I'm pretty much getting these camps' hopes up just because it makes me feel better about myself... yeah, I'm a bad person.
