Hello possums! Here's a sneaky post with 1 (tiny) texture pack up for grabs. Made mostly from scans from the British Library. They have a huge repository of images, all of which are in the public domain. I'm not even kidding, they have over a million images on their Flickr account. Funny story, I was actually looking for a particular item to use as a texture for an icon, and sort of fell into a trap. So naturally I made 30 odd textures, and forgot about the icon. Ah well, nevermind.
