1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Had a second baby. Flew on an airplane with two kids.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Last year, I made the resolution not to compare #2 (Josie) to Ethan. I think we're doing pretty well with that. We do make comparisons, such as “Josie is fatter than Ethan was.” :) But I don't worry about when she's doing stuff compared to when Ethan did them. I'd love for her to stay little, but she keeps getting bigger! This will be an ongoing resolution, but I think it's pretty successful so far. This year I want to craft more. I still need to finish 3 baby presents for people. Hi Kristen!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Seriously, so many babies. Steven (from Brandon's office) and his wife Lisa had a boy in March. I had Josie in July. Kristen had Noa in October. Brandon's band friend Joey LaHatte had another baby girl in October. Jackie had Alexander in December and Kathy (from Brandon's office) had a baby boy.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, again.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A potty-trained Ethan. We've been watching Potty Time with Elmo. I hope that will start to influence him to use the potty. He had been sitting on it before his bath at night, but lately he refuses to get near it.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 7th because that's when I got to meet my little Josiekins.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Handling two kids at once.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not doing anything about the library thing, again. It's going to be on the back burner for a while.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had the c-section, but it was seriously a faster recovery than the first one. I also got the flu in the beginning of October, and felt crappy for about a week.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Membership into the LHAECPTA (a mom's group with the longest acronym ever.) It helps me get out of the house and meet other moms and Ethan gets to interact with kids his age.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Brandon has lost 50 pounds! That's super awesome. Ethan has been great with Josie too, even though his little life was turned completely upside down.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Jeff and Liz didn't want the kids to come to their wedding or reception, which stressed Brandon's parents out like crazy. So we didn't quite feel sorry for them when the static and feedback of the church sound system drowned out their wedding. Ethan talking or Josie crying would have been so much worse though, I'm sure. :)
14. Where did most of your money go?
Doctor bills, food.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Josie! And Kristen being pregnant and having Noa! I still get excited about Ethan (and Josie now) learning new things. Ethan totally drew a picture of a train the other day. It was amazingly recognizable. :) He picked up my cell phone the other day, which has a picture of Josie for the background, and said “Hi Josie, I fine.” So cute! He uses adjectives now. He tells us things are crunchy, colorful, cute, and delicious. He's also helping clean and pick up toys. He gets some of them back out immediately, but anything is progress. He also uses his various alphabet/letter toys to make words. Some of them are real, like sun, fox, dog, cat, etc. Some are just letters he puts together and asks, “What this spell?” Sometimes we say, “That doesn't spell anything, or sometimes we say “pdlert.” :)
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
“Hey There, Delilah” because Ethan loved it so much.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier to have Josie in my life.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner, yay breastfeeding.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer, stupid economy.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading. Crafting.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Looking at the internet.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
We were in New Orleans for Christmas Day, and Ethan and Josie got way too much stuff. We came back home the day after and had another Christmas with my family. Ethan and Josie got way too much stuff again, but Ethan also got his train table that he loves.
21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
With my chubby little girl!
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
We still love Big Bang Theory. I like watching Cake Boss a lot because of the crazy Italian family. Modern Family is great too. The bit with the Lion King song was hilarious.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
25. What was the best book you read?
I don't think I read too many, but a great funny romance novel was What Happens in London by Julia Quinn. She always makes me laugh a lot when I read her books. The dialogue is great.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I barely listen to anything that isn't Sesame Street Platinum Hits. Speaking of Sesame Street, this cover of “I Don't Want to Live on the Moon” is pretty awesome.

27. What did you want and get?
Healthy baby girl.
28. What did you want and not get?
New dishwasher and couches.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I think we saw two movies this year. Up one from last year. :) We watched Slumdog Millionaire and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Slumdog was good, but seriously depressing. I liked Harry Potter a lot. :)
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Twenty-eight. The power was out for the second day and I was going to die from being pregnant and hot. Ethan and I went to my sister's apartment in Greenville for the day so we could have air conditioning. We went to IHOP with Melanie and a friend of hers from work for lunch. I forget what we did for dinner.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having more girlfriends/mom friends to talk to. I'm making progress towards this with the aforementioned mom's group, but no real close friends yet.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Maternity, now jeans and blousier tops.
33. What kept you sane?
Brandon.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I think Mark Sanchez, sans scruffy playoff beard, is pretty good-looking.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Brandon and I actually watched the presidential address about health care, so I guess that one.
36. Who did you miss?
The Clique, Breanne, my family.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Christine, one of the moms in the LHAECPTA. She has a son who just turned 3 and a daughter a month and a half younger than Josie.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Kids will surprise you with their adaptability. Ethan was totally fine with the big boy bed, and hasn't had too many issues with Josie. He also gave up the pacifiers fairly easily. Nap time was rough for a couple of days, but he is totally used to it now. After he's potty-trained, he won't be my baby boy at all anymore.
