Loooooots of random crap. Nodge-Sized-Entry #2?

Aug 14, 2007 17:03

First, a bunch of pictures that I've been meaning to post.

OMGBOMB

Tally Hall took this picture for us at Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, using one of the photo machines. Aren't they adorable?!

Next we have the 4th of July... up north... at the Horton Bay Parade!

The First Annual Horton Bay Race. Very professional. As you can see, my dad got to hold the (police) tape for the runners.

All the runners lined up for the 2007-meter race.

The Sheriff actually shot his gun into the air to start the race!

Yes, he actually ran the race like this.

And this man came in first place! ...Well, not really. He ran around the corner and hid, then 20 seconds later came jogging back down the path looking ever so victorious. Everybody cheered.

Mark's girlfriend, Caitlin, and her best friend Amy were in the race. They decided to finish together :)

Waiting for everyone to finish...

Andddd that ends the race!

We then headed over to the Horton Bay Parade with a bunch of random people from my school. We all knew of each other but not really knew each other... so it was a tad awkward, but whatever. It's all good.

This float was modeled after the lighhouse in East Jordan. Apparently they are ticketing people who jump off the nearby drawbridge into the (deep) Lake Charlevoix, so the people on the float were writing tickets for the crowd.

...and I was unlucky enough to recieve a $50.00 ticket.

More Horton Bay cheesiness, yay. They have long winters in the small town of Horton Bay... they center the whole season around planning this parade, really. Most of them are drunk when they come up with these ideas, lol.

Horton Bay-ers making fun of all the tourists who, I'm sure, just come flooding into their town every year... :P

My favorite sign: "What ocean is this?"

...I'm not really sure.

This float was a cage that contained Big Foot. Heck yeah.

The parade's "band" was "directed" by a 60-something-year-old woman who danced like a showgirl.

The Horton Bay Race winner. It was nicknamed "The Great Escape" because it took place at the Town Jail (which, by the way, is not in use anymore...).

The sign says it all...

Haha... yep...

My mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and I all had dinner at this snazzy little place on the lake.

The night after, we went to Pirate's Cove, a putt-putt golf place. We were all really bored and hyper, so it was a lot of fun.

Awwwww.

Mark thinking about something?

Posing with a pirate. Ooh yeah.

Oh God. Haha. Yeah. I was definitely made fun of for the rest of the trip for this lovely picture.

This includes my parents >__<

And my brother. Thanks, guys! Hahaha...

We went back home the next day. But not before taking some pics on the beach / at the house.

The dock and the boat. I spent most of the trip reading "Intensity" by Dean Koontz on the edge of the dock.

The view from the shore. *sigh* I know I'm gonna miss this place when my grandparents sell it... which will hopefully not be any time soon...

I bet Mark a dime I could melt this ice cube by breathing on it for two minutes. This is how much I succeeded...

So Mark was all like "yesssssss"

This was around the time of Nodge's pool / trampoline party way back when.

What our BK spider men should look like...

And what our BK Spider Man looks like, after we melted his face with a magnifying glass and the sun.

Few days later was Battle of the Bands in downtown Farmington. I volunteered at the Mayor's Youth Council booth. The night before, Heather came over and made brownies and cupcakes with me. They soooo did not sell. Ugh. Stupid people.

The hawttest cook in Michigan.

For the life of me, I don't remember what this was all about. But it was something. I swear.

Beautiful!

A week or two later was my parents' anniversary. Since my dad was working in PA that day, he sent my mom a special gift :).

Gorgeous! They made the house smell reeeeeeally good.

My mom and I took some pictures of them to send to my dad via email. This was one of them. Aww.

"Ok Lauren, smile!" Psyyyych!

Mom forced me to make a nicer face.

And that's a wrap. Finally. If you got far enough to read this, congrats. Seriously.

Secondly, I wanted to say that I have a new job. Well, my first job, really. The place? Mother's Pizzeria!
You see, Kelsey told Heather to go in and ask for an application slash apply. So she did. A few seconds later, they told her she was hired, and she should come to work in a few days. I had asked Heather to grab me an application too, and when she came back and told me how oh-so-difficult it was to get a job there, I filled it out and turned it in... and they told me "4:00 on Wednesday the 15th." Pretty cool, huh? :)

Thirdly, here is my Senior Year schedule, baby! It changes in the 2nd Semester, so anything following a " / " means 2nd Semester.

1: AP Enviro (Gilmore)
2: Piano (Palmieri) / AP English Lit (Murphy)
3: Pre Calc (Zdebski)
4: Media Lit (Spletzer) / Psychology (Cohen)
5: AP English Lit (Murphy) / Mythology (Knapp)
6: Chamber Singers (Cleveland)
7: Psychology (Tuz) / Creative Writing (Hannan)
8: Serenade (Cleveland)

And fourth, some words of wisdom. NEVER trust a little boy with your one-dollar bill. Even if you take an item of his and say "I'll give it back to you once you give me my dollar back." Because he will still rip it in half and throw it in the air.

Also, ALWAYS interperitive dance on a stage infront of a crowd with Rena and a crazy stranger named Derek while reading poetry that was written in less than 2 minutes. It is guaranteed to win you a free movie pass and a Hershey's chocolate bar. :D
