Yesterday I returned home from the cruise. What an adjustment! Even though I'm on solid land at home, I feel as though I'm bobbing at sea. It might take a while to get used to this again.
My vacation had it's ups and pitfalls. The cruise itself was wonderful. I'm a foodie, so getting to try new things every night for dinner had me basking in ecstasy. A three-course meal, all inclusive. Order anything and everything. Being waited on made me feel like a princess. I wish I was still there.
As far as cons go, the weather was miserable. We didn't have much sunshine (except for a few hours on the last day sailing home) and both our excursions in Bermuda were cancelled. My sister and I didn't get to set foot on a beach the entire trip. We did, however, come back with rum swizzle cake, glass jewelry, and bermuda exclusive perfume. Unfortunately, I did have to put up with the little black clouds circling my sister as she lamented that the reasons we took to cruise (to see the island in its entirety and get some beach sun) were all for nothing.
Her disappointment spilled over when I wanted to sit and write for a time. She screeched and gestured, saying things like, 'we're on vacation, why would you want to write of all things?!' and 'what's the purpose in recording your dreams for, really?' I had to resist the urge to just wail her in the face. Instead, I tried to calmly explain (though I really didn't succeed) that writing is enjoyment for me and she should know that by now. As far as my dreams go, well,I left that unsaid. Here though, I'll write that sometimes my dreams seem more vibrant than reality. Profound, really.
However, she was just blowing smoke because she was upset. I tried to recognize that as best I could and just let her vent. It was hard and trying and I definitely think God enjoys testing my patience in times likes these. He has a sick sense of humor.
Well, I did come back with some material to write about. I started a poem last night, but I'm not certain if it will get finished. Just a few odds and ends with a play on words.
I'm still in my pjs and I've got to get dressed and throw some laundry in. Well, i'm grateful I get to ease back into normalcy for now. Plus, I'm really looking forward to the June contest. Ohh, it will be so much fun!
azuire and I are squaring off. We're adding a little bit of an extra challenge to this month as well.
