Total: 20 credits
I'm going to drop at least one class because 20 credits is too many to handle, especially since the nature of my classes has changed. There will be a lot of paper-writing, but I love learning languages. I still want to study in a foreign country, but I also want to do the Cornell-in-Washington program or the Urban Scholars program.
Why I want to go into government, law and policy:
-I want to prove to myself, to my parents, and to many others that Asians can do more than math and science.
-I want to use the opportunities that an Ivy League education offers to do something really special and unique.
-I feel that I can speak to many different groups of people (urban, suburban, Asian, non-Asian, west coast, east coast), and I want to use this ability to form effective policy.
-I like interacting with a lot of people and large groups of people.
-I just like it. It's interesting to me.
So no more wishy-washy nonsense.
No matter how much I deny it to myself, I'll be the first to admit that I do have an ego. The first MPA programs I looked at were the ones at Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia. I just don't want to go to a second-tier school after graduating from Cornell. I'm used to the quality of life and the wealth of opportunities here. But I realize that this is okay. I just need to be able to handle my ego and pride and know when to put them aside.
Other than that, my parents are the bane of my existence.
