Coffee's good. I've been drinking it each morning this week in order to wake up, although I don't have to get up earlier than 7.20 am. Okay, it is quite early, but not as bad as, say, 6 am... Certainly, if I lived in the city, I would enjoy my 30-50 minutes of more sleep, but I am okay with this. Anyway, I'm drinking coffee again. :D
I started my internship at the
Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova museum last Monday, and time has flown by really fast since then. (Thus I haven't been able to come online and update.) They were a little surprised by my appearance since I had told the museum director that I wouldn't start until mid-March. It was okay though, I wasn't told to come back after a couple of weeks or anything. Now, I haven't got a certain job description, I just basically do what I am told... which is always something easy. Naturally, all the staff has a degree in history plus, depending on the person, degrees / studies in museology, archeology, media, marketing and such. Yeah, they're a bunch of rather educated people! I could feel bad about this since I am not half as educated, but, I don't really mind since I see this as an opportunity to learn. And learned I already have. I keep my eyes open and listen to everything that has been said, and I am really excited about everything I hear. I love learning this way! :) And let's not forget, I've always been interested in studying history... Who knows, maybe I'll be so inspired by these people that I will finally take the chance and apply to the uni to study history. Although I think I will be too inspired just to study anything, and I cannot make a decision as to what. Other than history, I am interested in marketing and advertisement, Fenno-Ugric linguistics... and hairstyling! :D But back to the internship. Like I said, the week went by really fast, I heard many interesting things, and I got to do some easy tasks. (This really is not related to tourism in any way, but I don't mind at all. I knew it wouldn't be, and that's also one of the reasons I chose a museum.) Anyway, the things I got to do last week that I liked the most were the meetings I got to attend with our PR person, and the photographing of a an ending exhibition. I did the photo shoot yesterday and I throughly enjoyed it! I haven't been inspired for too long a while but now I definitely want to start shooting again. :) I'm sure (or at least I hope!) that I will enjoy the nine weeks yet to come at the museum. And if not, at least I had a great first week.
Last week was pretty busy because I had something to do every day after work. I saw my sister almost daily, I think we actually met up every day except Monday. We went to the gym on Tuesday and Thursday, and we were thinking about going there yesterday too, but in the end I was too tired and she probably couldn't be bothered either. Going to the gym has been nice, I've always loved it. Too bad these one month cards we have don't allow us to use the gym on weekends. "/ Well, next week my intention is to go at least on three days, and I want to attend either a step or biking class on one of the days. Anyway, I am going to see my sister again today. We're going to take some pictures, of ourselves. It's been ages since the last time... Dad got my sister a Canon D-30 (if I remember correctly) and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. :D I am also finally going to buy that camera I've been talking about. I seriously have a hard time deciding when getting a basic camera (not an SLR that is). I know what I want when I have enough spare money to buy a new SLR, though. It's either a Canon or a Nikon... But now we're talking about compact digis, and I have to make a decision. So far I have only used Olympus, and I've liked them. However, I am now considering a Canon... there are two PowerShot models that I have been thinking about. They both have a manual adjustment possibility, which is the reason I am interested, but I don't know if it's a good thing in such a camera. I have asked myself the question; why not just get a good SLR instead of "wasting money" on a basic camera. A good question, but the thing that matters is the size. I don't always want to carry a big camera (in its bag) with me. Oh, I have also thought about a Nikon Coolpix model... Well, I seriously hope I'll come to a decision today.
I wish I had that laptop I have been dreaming about, not that I couldn't live without one, but it would be nice being able to update every now and then during the week. At the moment I have to use mom's computer, which is in her room, and since she always goes to bed rather early, I am never able to use it at night. Another thing that bothers me, which I just noticed, is the lack of a USB slot in this computer... someone has destroyed it. I have no idea how that is possible, but the slot on the front panel is just an empty hole. Wtf, I know. The reason this is a bad thing is, I cannot charge my ZEN!! :(((( And eventually I won't be able to upload photos on this computer, either. Seems like I will be spending a lot of money in the near future... and I am not even getting any from anywhere! Now if only I had a paying job.
