Mostly feet things.

I spent last Thursday and Saturday standing on my feet (what else?) for 8 hours straight. While this may not seem like a particularly long time in general, it can be when you're used to doing so while moving around, or if you spend a lot of the rest of your time in a computer chair processing photographs. I was busy packing "O Week" (Orientation Week, for universities) goodie bags to help out one of my sister's friends, Ana.

Firstly, my feet were still sore from the shoes I wore when I went to the beach with Malk. I wore these slip-on wedges that have given me wounds on my feet where the strap rubbed off my skin (I'm planning on altering the shoes, now, to remedy this). So standing all day? Somewhat unpleasant. Secondly, you don't move. Anywhere. You stand behind a table filling bag after bag after bag with no reason to move since everything is within arms reach. When you finally do move somewhere, you realise that your feet are throbbing, your knees have locked up, and you've developed a stoop from bending over the table for so long (although, not so much a problem with the shorter people among us).

I packed 3,000 bags overall. That's approximately the entire new student body of Adelaide University receiving one of the bags I packed, right there. Of course, it's a mere drop in the ocean considering there are 95,000 bags to be packed overall (28,000 left to go), but I'm sure Ana appreciates my contribution (in that it means 3,000 less bags she and her family have to pack). Plus, they're Macedonian, so lunch is always fantastic!

Then yesterday, I found myself contemplating buying an AU$600.00 pair of boots. Somebody slap some sense into me, please? I also found myself desiring these, far cheaper, boots...but it turns out that they're impossible to find in my size in Australia. Curse our isolation! I really should move to somewhere that is always cold, so I'd have every reason to wear glorious pairs of boots, rather than wedges that just cause me pain.

Speaking of cold climes, the lovely Rosie (as to how I know her: we were in the same year group at our high school) is currently in Toronto, Canada, enjoying the weather there. She's a fashion aficionado, and went so far as to make a Chanel 2.55 bag out of snow! You must go look. Spiffy, neh?
