Fruitopia-gate

Aug 12, 2006 21:04

A little bit of back story before we go into the most controversial story to hit the airwaves since bottle water isn't allowed on planes anymore.

The park, since this year, supposedly provides all staff with free drinks, this means we can have anything we want from the food establishments to drink because some days it gets to be like 98 degrees outside and we wear 7 layers of wool and die from heatstroke slash dehydration slash boredom. Anyway, we sorta kinda knew this last year because SH and I always used to go get gigantic glasses of fountain pop from Masonic last year and then guzzle them while sitting on the porch at Firkins. But now everything is free game including pop, juice, bottled water, pellegrino, milk coffee, your hearts delights of bottles. Some magical way someone found this out, I guess ppl ask questions as opposed to last year where we just thought the city hated us and wanted us all to die (which I still think they do sorta want). Since discovering this, 3 months ago, everyday AM goes and gets a bottle of pop for himself along with like 4 or 5 other ppl and then he brings it back to the lunch room and we guzzle in glorious unison.

Well, secrets are often kept from me, despite me being a beautifully wonderful secret keeper

[SIDE BAR](better than the most you'll know because I have some good juicy ones I have to die with and I bet no one would even know that I do because I never walk around going "i've got a secret, sssssssecret SSSEEEEE CRETT FROM YOU!" because it's rude and inappropriate and like KS says the best part of a secret is the fact that you know something that someone else doesn't know aka the bragging/power, but I tend to disagree because I think the best part of a secret is that someone feels you are trustworthy enough to tell them something they are scared/ashamed/embarrased/criminal to admit to general masses.) [SIDE BAR END]

ANYWAY! Soooooo as previously mentioned we get free drinks and since the beginning of the summer I have only used this PRIVELEGE (the keyword being privelege) 4 times. I got a Pink Grapefruit, a Cranberry Juice, A Tropicana, a Chinotto and a Strawberry Fruitopia. Ok I lied, it's been 5 times. So AM always goes to get the drinks for us, because he's nice and helpity like that.

Well, so Wednesday afternoon, at lunch, he brought me my Fruitopia (upon request) and everyone who knows me know I love me my liquid sugar, and that's actually why I don't drink juice that much anymore because I loooooooove it so much. So I try to stay away from the caloric intake. So, he brought me my fruitopia, I removed the label to see if I had won an Island for myself and one other person and then decided that I wasn't going to open it or drink it, instead I was just going to put it in the fridge, next to my half drank grapefruit juice and my juicebox collection. (Yes I have a corner devoted entirely to my drink collection, but I friggin scrub that batch clean so i effin deserve a whole corner, besides it's on the door and nothing fits on the door except ketchup and squeeze mayo. Which isn't in the fridge anyway, and I figure until they arrive that spot is claimed mine) So I left it there to drink for the next day.

Yesterday (FRIDAY) I intended to drink my Str. Fruitopia delicioso because it was at the top of the list of juices in the fridge of which i wanted to consume, like I had chosen my favorite child, but instead it decided to rain outside all day, so we had a partial and I didn't have a lunch, so I never got to drink it. So this morning I woke up and made my lunch and thought to myself OMG I have that deliciously cold and fruity drink waiting for me in the fridge at work. So I was so excited all day about it. Then at around 2 o'clock I went up to have a sample of that sweet nectar and opened the fridge and gasped in disgrace. MY FRUITOPIA WAS GONE!! not even half drank and returned to the fridge so that I could enjoy the remaining bits, but COMPLETELY VANISHED! So i start pacing, maybe I left it on the floor and then I remember specifically putting it in the fridge.

Now to the story, I left a semi-nasty letter on the fridge (it didn't have swears, all swears were replaced with ARGHH!!) because I was pissed and then decided that instead of being full of malice I would just go get a new one, it would be warm (because none of the juice is refrigerated for some reason) but it would just be a replacement. Then Constable informs me that we have overused our privelege and it has been revoked from us. NO MORE FREE JUICE! So I'm even more angry now because not only is my fruitopia missing, but it cannot be replaced, in moments it has become PRICELESS!

So I start sleuthing (because I already have some suspects) and realize that because of my melodramatic anger no one will obviously admit to me thatt they took it because I am being very volatile. Seriously, you think I'm not scary? Well, take my juice away from me and then re-avaluate how menacing I can be.

So, I do more detective work and start asking questions. And the Good Doctor tells me that he say AM drink it and that AM said, upon finding it in the fridge, "I don't know who this belongs to but I'm going to drink it". Upon Doc W telling me this I recall AM telling me, as I was putting my Fruit-oh-i-miss-upia in the fridge, that "if you don't drink that I'm (AM) going to drink that" to which I chuckled. Now in my defense
NUMBER 1 I didn't think he was being serious and
NUMBER 2 what qualifies "if you're not going to" because 3 days later I still intended to drink it, I just hadn't yet. Well, now everyone thinks ridicule of me because I'm making a big deal about juice, but it's not the juice, it's about PRINCIPLE! You don't touch things that don't belong to you, and if you do you should replace them.

And also Doc W and Missy Mac are saying that technically AM had originally been the one nice enough to get it for me and he had given me warning that he was going to drink it so therefore I should just admit defeat. So basically, he's an indian giver and if someone gives you warning that they are going to shoot and kill you and then do, it's your own dead-ass fault because you should have hauled ass when they threatened to kill you. DUMB!

HOWEVER, according to the story, (as told by Dr. Feelgood) when AM opened the fridge he said "he didn't know who it belonged to" and also he didn't work yesterday (Friday) or today (saturday), which means he would have had to have drank it sometime on Thursday afternoon, and he didn't even get it for me until 2 oclock which means he gave me a 4 hour window to consume my beverage before he decided that it was free game, and that's assuming that he drank it right at 6 oclock (which he didn't because he left at 5:30, so he technically only left me like 3 1/2 hours). SO I'M FUCKEN PISSED!!

And I'm just angry because... like, it's gone beyond a fruitopia now, it's the fact that people are taking sides now, and that it's all because of me. That if i would have just handled the situation better and shrugged it off people wouldn't be mad at each other and there would be harmony. Some people believe that since he got it for me in the first place he had the right to drink it, and some think that it technically it is sorta kinda like stealing. ANd i'm not being a baby so shut the fuck up ppl who think I'm acting like a child I'm just angry that when I wanted to have something (that I thought was mine) someone else had taken it and it wasn't there for me to have. Causing great inconvenienc, frustration and anxiety. And also as a bit of a sidenote, back to us abusing the privelege... in 3 months i've had 5 drinks, AM has a free drink 5 days a week and sometimes he has more than 1 and he had already had his that day so technically ... he was the one that was "abusing the privelege" and actually hold him fully responsible for having the flow of ambrosia stopped.

And so .. you have fucken Fruitopia-gate. Apparently it's been a bad week for bottled fruit drinks.

I just want someone to buy me a case of strawberry fruitopia and I never have to worry about this ever again, cause it'll last me years.
