It All Started With...

(I was a clever little fucker, I came across this story that I wrote in grade 6, it just goes to show that my talent goes back all the way back to at least 1994. Seriously dudes, I wrote Pirates of the Carribean eons before Johnny Depp was even a consideration. I can honestly say I think that that is the one and only time in my life when I ahve used the word "witful" TOO FUNNY!)

...the pirates attacking us with their floating batteries. First of all, everything started out fine with us, the French, setting sail to catch some fish but of course the pirates had to attack...just had to.

In the first place, we didn't actually know we were being attacked by the pirates until it hit us and I mean that literally. At first we just thought that the first shot was a mistake by some other sailors that were shooting at a flock of seagulls overhead.

At first glance of the pirates flag I went as pale as a ghost. If it had been my first interception with pirates, then maybe that would be another story. I had had a bad experience with the black white skull and crossbones pirates. That experience wasn't bad it was terrible.

My captain and his crew tried to escape but as you know French ships are very slow. We did not make it, and as you guessed the pirates caught up with us and attacked us.

The attack was terrible. My captain pledged his life for ours, only to die for us. Half of the crew died in this witful battle. Over 15 died and those that did not were sent to the undership locked up there. When they finished taking anything that was useful (which wasn't very much) they blew up the ship.

It was the most pitiful sight and sound I had ever head. The cries, the shrieks, the screams and mournful prayers of those that were trapped in the cabin.

I have told this story many times to others. I have dreamt about it for twenty years and still, I wonder how I survived this treacherous battle. I still wonder, "Squawk, Squawk!"
