[Determined to return Minato's jacket that he let her borrow to get home, Shiki's out walking through town carrying the jacket. It's been cleaned and all, but she's got it folded up instead of wearing it.

What is she wearing? Her boots, her hat...and that's just about it. Shiki's decided that leading a fashion protest is in her best interests ( Read more... )

[Derek shrugs his battered leather coat off and offers it to her]

...Here. It's a bit cold out.

[Shiki just looks at the coat and shakes her head, holding up the one in her arms]

It's okay, I don't mind.

You're not afraid you'll catch cold?

Not really.

You must have a good immune system. [Derek hasn't looked away, yet. But then, he's also keeping eye contact with her and not letting his eyes wander]

...Not worried about other people seeing you, either?

I suppose you could say that. [Good Derek, that's appreciated.]

No, that's kind of the point. I'm setting an example.

[He's a gentleman, overall. Although he's probably seen his fair share of naked vampires at the very least...although those were probably trying to kill at the time him instead of...whatever Shiki is doing.]

An...example?

[Shiki's just being special, there's really no excuse.]

Yeah, it's almost like a protest, but I'm not waving signs or yelling.

Clothes.

Clothes.

Why?

Reply

so_shik January 31 2010, 02:11:30 UTC
Because clothes are stifling and make people judge everybody else, that's why. They're really cute, and I love them, but they're stifling.

...well, if we were somewhere where wearing the 'right' kind of clothes was considered socially important, I could see that [Derek replies carefully], but here? With as different as everyone is, and with as different as the clothing styles are from their own worlds, I don't see that becoming an issue.

Personally, I'd be more worried that people thought I was advertising for some unwanted attention, if I were you, since the norm is for people to wear clothing...unless they're doing something that you don't wear clothes for.

[Well, he's trying. He's also still keeping eye contact, and a reasonable tone of voice.]

...makes sense. But it's still the fact that people judge no matter what.

True, but you have to think; if that's the case, then why are you risking getting sick and getting the wrong kind of attention to make your point? If it's a question of wanting to be recognized for yourself rather than what you wear, then the best way to do that is to show your personality...not your skin. People won't see anything but your skin this way. Be yourself though, and people will notice that.

I am being myself though. And I don't plan on being outside for long anyway, so really, it's okay. I mean it.
