I'll be on my second birthday here soon. But I guess it's not been all bad. I've learned a ton of stuff. I'm a better hunter, warrior, smith, and everything.

[But what really sells it is how good things are with Suki now. Otherwise this would have a more depressed taint to it, due to this being the fourth year he's grown a year and his dad wasn't there for it.]

Sounds like a lot of people are on their second lately. Maybe I should start making a birthday calendar or something.

Do you think you're better at everything just because you've grown, or because you've had more time to practice everything, Sokka?

Guess it couldn't hurt. Although that's a lot of birthdays...

I guess a lot of both. It's not like we have anything to do but hobbies here, right?

Yeah, but I figure I need something else to do between seasons anyway.

Exactly. Well I mean there's school and hanging out with your friends and stuff, but mostly it's all about hobbies. It's kind of a trade-off that way. We get all the free time in the world, they get to control us whenever they want.

Well you can start by marking me down for the twenty-fifth!

I wouldn't exactly call it a fair trade off, but we don't get much of a choice.

You got it. Pretty soon then...what do you have planned?

It's actually pretty far from fair, but I'm trying to keep positive here.

Me? Nothing. [If anything happens, that's all on Katara and Suki.]

Fair enough. So what about you? Changed for the better?

Right, sure. [Somehow she's just figured all boys have girls that plan their parties and celebrations for them. This is a reoccurring pattern.]

I like to think so. I'm a lot happier here than I was at home, is that weird?

I guess that depends on how bad home was. [Or what you have waiting for you.]

Home was...weird up until recently. [That's about as vague as she can make it.] But I mean like...sometimes I think I'm the only one who's really okay with being here.

Well I'm probably happier here than I was at home. But until recently, home was in the middle of a war. I'd be happier now at home, because that's all in the past. [Okay so no, he can't really relate.]

See, that totally makes sense. If home's a lot more peacefu--

...wait, did the war end before you came here? Or did somebody else tell you it was over?

Before! I should know. I mean, I was there.

Okay so yeah, that pretty much makes being stuck here suck more. I guess the only reason I'm happy to be here is because I can run my own business and get practice in before I go back, and the people I've met. Otherwise...I'd be completely okay heading back to Shibuya.

Oh, well yeah. I figure being here isn't too bad. Even better if I can take back all my awesome skills back with me. But I wouldn't want to stay here forever.

Well I mean...if we lose our memories of this place when we go back, do you think we lose skills?
