Back on the second. I didn't think it was a big deal, so I didn't really announce it. [Which is stupid since she made a big deal about Harry's iirc.]

[Yeah, he's thrown off by that.] Happy belated birthday.

[Shiki tends to be a walking contradiction most days.] Thanks. I guess the Malnosso decided to gift me with another annual pass to Luceti this year. Generous of them, huh?

As long as it didn't come with a free experiment. [Jokes aside, he's kinda thoughtful.] You've settled in well enough, I think.

Maybe a free exemption from the next one if I'm lucky. [She pauses briefly before shrugging.] Definitely. I figured I might as well make the best of it while I'm here, you know? Yeah, the world's waiting for me back at home but that's not an excuse not to enjoy myself here.

That'd be nice. [He's quiet for a moment.] Do you ever wonder if the world gets impatient about it?

...I think the world would understand. Everyone needs a break, right? If you overwork someone their performance is going to fail and things are just going to end up bad. Like...if I spent all of my time working and sewing and designing, my clothes would start looking redundant and dull. But if I get a break, I can regroup, get fresh ideas and stuff. Does that make sense? I guess what I mean is that the world's going to keep turning without me, so I may as well take a little bit of time to regroup and make sure I'm in a good place before I try to help everybody else. Otherwise? It's just going to get complicated and messed up.

But what if there's more at stake than that?

Like what, the fate of the world and the outcome of a war? [Oops, was that oddly specific?]

... Something like that. [Yep.]

Think about it this way...what happened to the world when everything started and the war began, before there were actually people fighting to end it? The world didn't explode automatically. You have to fight many fights to win the war. Luceti would just be another fight.

Usually it's better to get fights over with.

Exactly. So...if Luceti's another fight, focus on it instead of focusing on what's going on at home. Make sense?

But what if one wanted to stay?

Then it's just a variation of the fight. You have to start being creative and working around it.

I mean...my boyfriend wants to go home, and I know a few of my other friends do too, but I kind of don't.
