Merry Christmas everyone :)
I'm having a wonderful holiday for a variety of reasons. One of them is that I'm here with my family, of course, and we're all healthy and we've had wonderful meals and got very thoughtful gifts. I feel like I did pretty good this year with things like that. I was at a coffee shop today with my sister and randomly saw the movie David and I promised to watch months ago and never did. He mentioned it last night and gave me a hard time for it, so I had to buy it.
I think one of my favorite memories of this break so far is spending hours over there last night with them. After Friday, considering I'm off work for over a week, I started to feel nervous about where I belonged and if I had anyone to share my time with considering so many people are gone. I remembered again last night that home is at the Demarcos. And that I love them with all of my heart and that I'm now not pushing myself to enjoy Lesley's company, but I truly am. She talked a lot yesterday and today, and it was so delightful to really see her personality. Its taken us years but now I feel we are real friends, not friends because we're trying to appease him. I heard some odd gossip, as I think I have heard a lot of these days considering I've seen so many old friends and heard about the ones I haven't seen. He bought a sugar glider that we named Joey and that I think all of us fell in love with. I am so amazed by that animal I could probably stare at it for hours.
Another big reason today is so exciting and lovely is because my flight is finally tomorrow. The time has finally come! I checked the weather and it seems less than what I'm used to in Chicago, so I'll be more than fine. I spent the last hour picking out cute outfits and thinking of things we're going to do there. I really really hope I see De too, because she seems like someone I'd get along with so much in person. Just like Brittany, some of my penpals and I seem so compatable as friends that I'm very blessed to have stumbled upon them. And I'm even planning a trip with Tiffany in Kentucky pretty soon.
I also saw Liza yesterday which was wonderful. And it was another reason that I finally felt at home back in Crystal Creek. I think that feeling will be solidified if when I come back I see Meredith. I am pretty luck to have some of the best people I know live all in the same neighborhood. I'm pretty lucky in general, though I don't really believe in luck. I believe in getting what you deserve when you earn it, and most of the time, I feel worthy of the good things I've begun to have. Sometimes those thoughts creep in of not deserving any of it, but then I think of where that leads me and what kind of people that leads me to, and I remind myself again that I'm just human.
I probably won't write for awhile considering my vacation and the New Year's sleepover preceeding, but hopefully I'll have pictures soon. When I get back I have some more exciting things to look forward to, and I can't wait to see the kids at work again and to see Stephen when he finally gets back home. Sometimes I have to stop myself and really wonder if this is all really coming together and happening. But it really is.
Sorry for the sap. I'm such an Irish girl
