3. Character Information II
Age/Appearance: Finnick is 24 years old. In her description of Finnick, Katniss points out that no stylist could have created Finnick's beauty. He is utterly gorgeous, tall and blond by genetics, and bronzed and muscular from his time spent working as a fisherman. His sea green eyes are frequently mentioned or thought of by the other characters. He walks with the confident air of someone who knows exactly how handsome he is.
History: (FANDOM CHARACTERS ONLY) http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/Finnick_Odair
Personality: Charming, handsome, talented, witty, seductive: Finnick Odair knows that he is all these things and as he would gladly tell you, he is so much more. He prides himself on his ability to make most anyone weak in the knees, and it's this effortless charm that has enabled him to be such a favorite of the Capitol citizens. Anyone who has met Finnick in a party or social gathering or seen him interviewed would doubtlessly claim that he is always relaxed, always smiling, and an open book.

This mask costs him much more than he cares to let on. Beneath the gloss and sheen, Finnick is a deeply troubled young man. He is forced into prostitution by President Snow, and has a constant threat of his loved ones being injured if he should fail Snow in any way. He committed murders against other children in his own Hunger Games, and is forced as a mentor to watch children be killed year after year. This pain, when he thinks about it, is nearly impossible to bear, so he has learned to control his emotions by putting on a happy face to the world. Sometimes, he is even able to convince himself that his smiles are real.

Still, Finnick is easy to get along with and can make conversation with almost anyone. He's not difficult to please, easily entertained, and easily distracted. Finnick himself would admit that he is flighty and shallow, though anyone who takes the time to know him beyond a surface level would discover that there is more depth there than he cares to let on.

Finnick also feels a deep connection to the water. He grew up in District 4, which is located by the coast and where the main industry is fishing. Finnick feels at home on a boat, in the water, and finds comfort in these things. An example of this is in the third book of the series, when he is worried for Annie and distracts himself by repeatedly knotting up a length of rope (like the ones used in fishing nets).

It should also be noted that while Finnick gets along fine with most people, when he cares about someone, he cares deeply. He is willing to put those he cares about ahead of himself and will risk his own well-being to protect his loved ones.
Sexual Preferences/Orientation: Finnick is known for his frequent and varied sexual partners. When he comes to the Capitol, he is well known for going through four or five lovers in one visit. For the most part, people assume he does this for the gifts or attention he receives. Finnick keeps it a secret that Snow orders him to spend time with the wealthier citizens of the Capitol and if he refused, Snow would threaten to torture people he cares about. As such, Finnick complies, but remains emotionally unattached to most of his trysts. Her harbors a love for another Hunger Games victor, Annie, and would remain monogamous to her under more ideal circumstances. Because of the situation he is placed in, however, Finnick has allowed himself to view sex as casual and generally unimportant. Though he is primarily attracted to women, certain men will appeal to him as well.
Powers: Finnick is charming, strong, and much more clever than he lets on, but he has no supernatural powers.
Reason for playing: On a surface level, I love the idea of playing Finnick because of his charm, his ease, his wit. He's a fun character. On the other hand, he won the Hunger Games at the age of 14, which means that as a preteen, he strung people up and killed them with his trident. A boy doesn't go through an experience like that with no scars. Those scars make him interesting to play, and the balance between his devil-may-care mask and his hidden pain provides a wonderful tension to play with. I want to see him develop as a character, make connections, see what life is like outside of President Snow's grips. For these reasons, I want him in a game, not a dressing room. The appeal of Bete Noire in particular (aside from my familiarity to the game), is the comparisons to the Capitol. While the Capitol is shiny and sparkling and opulent and Bete Noire is gritty and violent, there are so many underlying similarities between the cities. It will be fun to see how he does, balancing those similarities and weighing them against the newfound freedom of BN.

5. Samples
First-Person: [ A handsome man comes on the screen, but he would be deeply offended by such a description. Finnick Odair is, in fact, strikingly beautiful with golden skin, tousled blond waves of hair, and mesmerizing sea green eyes. Bone structure? Chiseled, like a statue of a god. Perfect lips are currently smiling at the screen, he even looks relaxed. ]

You know, when you're being torn apart by mutant lizards, you don't have a lot of time to wonder about what you'll be facing after death. A couple of seconds if you're intellectual, just a blink of time if you're not. But even if I'd had months to wonder about it, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have guessed I'd end up in a place that looks like this. I mean, with all these buildings and cars, it's like the Capitol but--

[ He pauses. He was going to say "but ugly", but it's probably best not to offend the locals. And anyway, he's never been the biggest fan of the Capitol anyway. ]

So. What's a guy do for fun around here?
