CHAPTER 13
Jin wants to finish his work and break away from the office before those two pestering friends of his bombard him questions regarding Ishida Yuuki
‘Why does she have to ask me that question in front of those guys’ he sighed wearily as he type the last sentence of his report. ‘Yes! I’m done… Gotta get out of here’
Hurriedly shutting down his laptop and grabbing his things he dash out of the door. But lady luck was not on his side because he bumped into Junno and Yuichi.
“Akanishi Jin? Where do you think you’re going?” Nakamaru sweetly asked as Junno blocked his path and push him back to their room and lock it.
Trying to act casual he shrugged “where else? I’m going home.” Then try to push his way out but it didn’t work.
“You’re not going anywhere Jin. Not until you answer our questions” the oldest of them declared
‘Okay. You’re dead Akanishi’ Jin’s brain cries. “What questions are you talking about?” as he tried to cover his anxiety.
Junno lead him back towards his desk and asked him to sit down before the other two did the same.
“Don’t play dumb on us Akanishi. You know what we’re talking about” Yuichi calmly said.
“We’re talking about I-SHI-DA YUU-KI.” added Junno giving his friend one of his brightest smile that made Jin thinks he’s really in a big, big trouble.
Dejectedly Jin knew he reached a dead end, not unless he finds a way to jump over the wall. “What do you want to know?” he finally asked.
“Who is Ishida Yuuki?” was the first question thrown at him. Maybe Jin was able to escape this question coming from Maki by snapping at her saying it’s none of their business, but he can’t use that tactic to these two.
“Ishida Yuuki is someone I met in Shibuya almost 3 years ago?” he plainly stated
“Why haven’t you introduced us to that person?” Junno looked at his friend waiting for a response.
“Because I haven’t had a chance to personally meet the person?”
“So how did you know the person’s name then?” 3rd question was asked
“I asked the co-worker?” Jin sighed
“Why are we using the general term? Is the person male or female?” Yuichi tries to confirm
“What?! How can you ask such question?!” Jin exclaimed but question was repeated again “Is the person male or female? Just answer us honestly.”
‘This is getting difficult every minute. I can no longer go back when I answer this’ he contemplated. “We’re waiting Jin…” Nakamaru insist
“OK OK! IT’S A GUY! ARE YOU HAPPY? ARE YOU GOING TO START CALLING ME GAY OR SOMETHING?” he exploded
“No. We’re you’re friends and we will accept you whatever and whoever you are” Junno joined once again.
Jin let out a heavy sigh and stared at his friends “Are you sure it’s alright with you? You won’t judge me?”
“You’re truly stupid Jin! Why would we?” as Nakamaru lightly hit his friend’s head.
“Ok… I have a final question though?” as if Junno remembers something
“What is it?” both Yuichi and Jin asked.
“If you said your heart belongs to Ishida san… What does Kazuya means to you?”
This held Jin speechless for a long time but then he glanced once again to his friends and whispered “he’s my best friend…”
“Please stop it already Jin.” these words made him intently stare at the person who said it, who happens to be Junno. He didn’t expect it coming from him, more likely from Yuichi but not him.
“What are you talking about?”
“You’re in denial…” Junno simply answered and looked straight in Jin’s eyes without losing his calmness.
“And what made you say that!” Jin walked straight to his friend and slams his fist on the table.
“Because that’s what I observe. Just say it Jin, stop pretending that certain things and people don’t affect you” then suddenly a serious glint in his eyes was seen, not typical for Junno and this made the others known he means business.
“What exactly are you getting at Junno? Didn’t you just hear what I said earlier?”
“Actually I did but I’m not convinced. There’s something you’re not telling us” he insisted.
“What do you want to know?” a frustrated Jin once again ask and Junno evenly answered “the truth”

FLASH BACK
Jin was walking on the busy street of Shibuya when he passed by a convenience store. So he decided to enter just to look for some snack to pass his time. After he got the things he wanted he proceed to the counter to pay for the items.
“Good afternoon sir” greeted by the staff as he starts to punch the items. When Jin looked at the person who greeted him, he felt that time suddenly stopped right before his very eyes.
He is now staring at a young man maybe 2 years younger than him who wears a very warm smile. And all Jin can do was to stare at him, and then he took a quick look on the boy’s name tag ‘Cute. So your name is Ka-chan huh.’ Jin smiled to himself.
From then on Jin tries to pass by that store almost everyday though he doesn’t need to buy anything. And there were times when he just stands in front of the store pretending to wait for someone or across the street where he can still take a glimpse of “Ka-chan”
One time, he bribed his young cousin to take a picture of the said guy saying it’s for their next project. “It’s weird if a guy like me just walks into the store and asks for his picture right?” he explained to his cousin and attempting to convince himself as well.
Good thing that the little girl was so adorable that when she approached Ka-chan and asked for his picture he eventually agreed. Though at first he was unsure whether to say yes, thinking it’s just a prank
.
So using Jin’s phone, the girl took his picture and gave him a tight hug and casually walked out of the store.
Then after several weeks, Jin was able to gather enough courage to approach the said person. So he walked into the store and looked for him only to find out that he no longer work there. And after a few months he saw him on TV.
END FLASHBACK
All Yuichi and Junno could do was to wordlessly listen to what Jin told them. And finally Yuichi was the one who voiced out his thoughts. “Is it Kazuya? The person you’re referring to?”
And Jin just nods his head not trusting his voice to answer the question thrown at him. This is such a long, crazy and eventful day on his life.
“So why did you said you hate him before?”
‘Its time to lay down all the cards’ Jin finally decided “I lied Yu... I lied to you, to Junno and to myself. I don’t hate him okay! But I wanted to hate him!”
“Why?” curiosity lingers on Nakamaru’s voice
“WHY? YOU’RE ASKING ME WHY?! I WANT TO HATE HIM BECAUSE WHEN I SAW HIM ON THAT DAMN TELEVISION I KNOW I CAN NEVER HAVE HIM, EVER!” he cried out
“I want to hate him coz people loves him. I want to hate him because now he’s a public property. I want to hate him because I’m a selfish jerk and I don’t want to share him with anyone.
I want to hate him when I saw him on TV. I want to hate him coz he quit his job. But most of all I hate myself because I’m a gutless guy who made his move way, way too late.” Jin continues to rant.
Finally Yuichi put his hand on Jin’s shoulder “You know you’re an important friend and as your friend I’ll give you a small advice”
“What is it?” Jin muttered
“Pretending won’t you lead anywhere. Try to face what’s in front of you. He’s here now; all you have to do is speak up, if you like him then tell him. We can’t do that for you. Nobody could, only you.”
With this statement Jin can only gaze at his friends trying to grasp what they’re trying to tell him.
After a long stretch of deafening silence, Junno broke it with his genuine laugh “Jin, finally you accepted your real feelings. For a while I was worried about you.”
When Jin gave him an astonished looked, Junno laugh even more “You always say I’m the KY here. Yeah maybe I am, but sometimes giving the impression that you don’t notice the atmosphere is the best way to observe people.”
Then he stood up and dragged Yuichi with him. When they reached the door, Junno once again spoke. “Oh, by the way Jin, I already figured out your little name game… Ishida Yuuki is Kame chan, right? I happen to watch those two dramas, if in case I forgot to tell you. Now it’s time to admit your feelings directly to that person”
With that, they said their goodbye and he suddenly open the door and reveal a thunderstruck Kamenashi Kazuya.
