Project Love : Chapter 3

Summary: Mr. Brain and Mr. Popular thinks they have nothing in common. But a certain BIRD change all that!
A/N: For those who are curious, I got the inspiration to write this when I read a certain book but I won't be copying the whole thing so don't worry... I just borrow the project which the professor assigns to them coz I love what it symbolizes.

Chapter 3
“Because I hated you since the day he said he loves you.”
His ears might be deceiving him or did Mari really said ‘HE’? A BOY dumped her because he likes him? Mari hates him because the boy she likes loves him? This is not true right?
“That's not true.” Kame hesitantly stated
“I myself don't want to believe at first but unfortunately that's the truth. YOU! ruined my happiness. The person I like the most dumped me because of you. Because he’s in love with you, get it? ”
Kame can feel Mari's pain and anger as she utters every words, seems like she's wishing for his death as she speaks.
“Hayakawa san, you must have heard him wrong. It’s not possible that he will turn you down yo~~”
“It is possible, coz he already did.” Mari cut whatever the boy has to say.
“Then forget what he said! He’s a jerk for not liking you, but if you’ll just give me a chance.”
“Stop it Kamenashi kun, you can’t change my mind nor what my heart dictates. And stop that tone that as if you're begging. It doesn’t suit you. Seriously, it sounds pathetic."
And without another word, Mari stood up and left Kame all alone. Hurt with what the girl just told him, he didn’t even looked up when she left; instead he bow his head in order to hide the tears that started to flow.
This kind of feeling is foreign to Kame. As far as he can remember girls are the ones who begged for his attention and not the other way around. All he have to do is either reject or accept their proposal. And when he thinks about it, Mari's on the same boat as those other girls.
‘Is this how she felt when he rejected her?’
“Do you mind if I join you?”
Kame was startled when some suddenly spoke beside him and when he looked up he saw Jin face leaning over giving him a concerned look.
“What are you doing here?” he curtly asked.
“I’m on my way to the library when I saw you with Hayakawa san, I wanted to say 'HI' but before I can even take a step she left you all alone. Too bad coz I wanted to say hi to her.”
The smaller man just give a huff then looked down at his feet, when he heard a soft fumbling on his side he tilt his head up only to come face to face with Jin.
‘So close, why is his face too close?’ he nervously asked himself but what surprised him the most is when the said man cupped his face and pulled it a little more closer.
'Crap! What are your doing Jin kun!'
But before he can open his mouth to protest, he felt a soft fabric wiping away his forgotten tears.
“I don’t know what she said that made you upset but I hope you’ll stop crying.” Jin softly whispered as he continues to dry his tear streaked face.
Though his heart's drumming with nervousness and embarrassment, Kame still manage give an indignant reply
“Who says I’m crying. I’m not.”
“Yeah I can see that.”
“Are you being sarcastic?”
“Maybe.”
“Do you mind? Don’t treat me like a freakin’ girl.”
“ Oh, believe me I'm not. Right now I’m treating you like 5 year old"
Kame can’t believe that this guy wiping away his tears is the same guy who’s famous in the entire campus for being brainy. Coz 1) he seems more confident and 2) he's sarcastic
“Alright, no more tears.”
This snapped Kame out of his daydream and stared at the boy. Then he suddenly realized that he didn't know Jin's real purpose why he's sitting here beside him.
“Jin kun not being rude or anything but what do you want from me?”
“Yeah right, I almost forgot. I’m wondering if you’re free later.”
“Huh? Why?”
“For our project, because we only have limited time it’s better if we start today.”
“But Kimura sensei just gave the assignment yesterday.”
JIn let out a heavy sigh and mumbled something about 'typical' 'important' and 'cramming the last minute' before he spoke to Kame once again.
“Yeah I know. But technically it’s already been 2 days since he announced the project which means we already wasted so much time.”
“Oh, I see. Ok, what time and where?”
“4PM at the school gate.”
"Alright..."
“Ok. I’ll see you later Kazu chan.”
Jin stood up and bid Kame goodbye when he saw Maru and Koki heading their way. At the same time, Kame watched his nerdy classmates make their way to the library.
‘He’s geeky but he's kind.’

Mari rush to the library to meet Ryo, she wants to prepare everything they need before the boy arrives. But as she pass the gymnasium someone strategically block her way.
She’s about snap at the person but when she saw who it was, the only thing that came out of her mouth was.“Senpai”
Without answering, the said senpai dragged her in the corner then pushed her firmly into the wall.
“What have you done?”
“What do you mean senpai?”
“You perfectly know what I mean.”
Yes she knows what her senpai is talking about but she won’t say anything not unless that person will confirm what’s on her mind.
“No I don’t know.”
“What did have you told Kazuya?”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“Then why did you talk to him?”
"How did you know?"
"I have my ways, now answer me."
“He just wanted to know something.”
“And what is that?”
“If I wanted to go out with him, but I said no.”
“Why?”
“I don’t like him.”
Mari try to hold back her tears which are threatening to fall as her senpai carefully looks at her.
“I can’t do that. You love him right? I can’t possibly hurt you. And my heart still belongs to senpai.”
“Mari~~”
“I know… You can’t love me like the way I love you right? Don’t worry I understand.”
“I’m sorry. You’re a nice girl and I know you’ll find someone better.”
Slowly, senpai let go of her and walked away, leaving the girl on her own. Making sure that no ones around, she let the tears to freely fall.
‘You truly love him don’t you senpai…’

“Kame, your partner is waiting for you.” teased Yamapi as they walked to the main gate.
“Shut up! Pi”
“Owww look he’s blushing… Don’t tell me you’re interested with bookworm Akanishi”
“Ryo….”
“Alright guys shut up. Akanishi is Kame chan’s project partner so it’s normal that they’ll spend time together.” Tatsuya glared at their friends then turn his attention to their youngest friend “Na, don’t worry Kame chan… Go and greet Akanishi kun, I bet he already fallen asleep waiting for you. You’re 15 minutes late.”
Kame wave goodbye to his friends and approached Jin who’s currently standing outside the gate but at the same time reading something.
“Jin kun?”
“Ah, Kazu chan”
“Sorry I’m late.”
“No worries”
Kame felt a bit uneasy. He doesn’t know what to say around Jin, he doesn’t even have an idea what topic interest the other. So he’ll just stick to the most basic topic.
“How’s school?”
“It’s ok”
“Ummm…ok”
“Ok…”
“So, about our project?”
“Yes?”
“Is it true what you said? I mean, what it symbolizes?”
A genuine smile spread across Akanishi’s face, eagerly nods his head and start speaking animatedly as he pulls the smaller boy away from their school gate and towards his home.
