Merry Ex-mas

Today - children all around the world, will awake expecting to find their tree adorned with gifts galore. How ever, today they will find none. Not because a green grinch in a santa suit stole them, or because mom and dad couldnt afford them, but because the material objects there are worth nothing...
We grow up in a material society, always making christmas lists, searching through catalogs for that perfect gift. But we soon find that this "perfect gift" only brings a moment of joy, a second of bliss; we find these to be unfulfilling, and so we yearn for more gifts to fill that empty void...a void that can not be satiated with our material desires, but only with the smile of a friend, or a hug from a loved one. Why is it that the one thing that we, all of humanity, need the most- can not be bought and wrapped to be placed under a christmas tree? The one thing that can fill that gaping whole inside of us is not an ipod or a computer, but the one thing that cannot be bought...love. Maybe thats why Christmas these past couple years has seemed kind of bleak, maybe this christmas we will somehow be able to find the happiness mentioned above, maybe one christmas we will realize that the $50 dollar gift placed under the tree will cause nothing short of sorrow and longing. Merry EX-Mas, and a happy new year.
