Right.
[And, in about an hour's time, she arrives! She's forgone the more complicated layers of her usual outfits -- July is hot even without a heat wave. Instead, she's settled on just a light blue skirt and white blouse, though the latter retains the pattern at the end of the overlong sleeves and, despite her sandals, the space under the former is covered by her stockings. And while I'm bothering to comment on her outfit, she's also wearing a silver engraved locket, which sometimes is covered by the top layers but is out in the open today. Moving on.
Even though she was told that the door would be open, she pauses, reconsiders busting in, and instead opens the door enough to poke her head in while she knocks.]
[Shiki's not too far from the front entrance when Fenimore turns up, and she waves. She pauses to blink at her choice of outfit, a bit impressed that she chose to forgo the layers but pleased at the same time. In her opinion it looks better that way.]
Hey, Fenimore. Come on in, it's a lot cooler inside.
[With that as an invitation, she certainly doesn't need to be told twice!] Ahh. [Much cooler indeed. ...You win this time, electricity. She can accept air conditioning.]
I guess elec'ricity isn't all bad. [She still hasn't bothered to learn how to pronounce it quite right yet, though.]
...No? At least, we don't have anything like the things around here. [Well, that's not entirely true, but it's pretty much all lost technology and it runs on uncertain power. The most Fenimore's seen has been tiny robots run by magic, which she doesn't equate to modern technology.]
Then...how do you get anything done or do anything? What about lights and water and stuff? [You know, Shiki, it might just be similar to how everyone lived in Luceti before electricity came.]
Okay, okay, don't get touchy. Candles just haven't really been a thing where I'm from for like, ever. You're getting used to the electricity here though, aren't you?
[She didn't mean to sound touchy and nearly says so, but she stops herself when she realizes that the way she was planning to word it sounds pretty touchy itself.
And the second question distracts her, anyway.] Um. The lights are okay. [Which is to say: mostly no.]
Don't worry about it, you'll get used to it. At least in the shop all you have to worry about is whether I can get all of your measurements accurately or not.
[She's free for a while, but she figures she should ask before just showing up.]
