Is anyone else watching Riverworld on US Syfy? (god, it even hurts me to type that) How does it compare to the books? I've never read them - I like this movie, so far, and so am thinking the books might be worth a look...
ETA: Hm, having finished the movie and perused the Wikipedia entry, it seems that the movie (really a pilot for a series) took quite a few liberties. A big one was having an American astronaut for the protagonist instead of... Sir Richard Burton?
Jeez, I can't get away from this guy! :-)
ETA2: Right, so it appears that I just watched the 2003 pilot/movie that SciFi (because that's what they were called back then) made, NOT the one they're making that's supposed to air in 2010 that's going to star Peter Wingfield as Sir Richard Burton.
I mean, I'll probably watch for Wingfield doing Burton, but, wow, it sounds like this is going to be another hideous mangling of a literary source by SyFy... and, of course, making a SECOND pilot after the first one didn't work is such a good idea...
