More from Vancouver...

Well, it's been a fun few days so far... and the weather has been AMAZING. Sunny and pleasant since Saturday; comfortable temps and just cool enough at night to have the windows open. According to caarianna, this is the nicest weather they've had in months...

TS places I have seen, and a little music stuff.... )

Burrard Bridge, of course! Don't why I can never remember the name of it. I agree that it doesn't look all that familiar, despite figuring in a number of eps. I think, in part, because they shoot such different angles and have lead-in scenes in places nothing like the areas at the ends of the bridge.

Sounds like you're having a terrific time! I hope all continues to go well, both with your touring and with your performance!

It's those big tower-like things on the far end that throw me. I'll have to watch Switchman again, but you're right, it's probably that the angle is just different.

Thanks! Your suggestions have been really helpful! And it got cloudy today, but I still think it's a beautiful city...*G*

I'm not convinced it's the bridge in Switchman ... that looked more like an interchange that was in the process of being built (ie explains the broken, unconnected part). If it was the Burrard Bridge, it was pretty impressive post production special effects! ::grins::

Man, I craved the sun after about nine months of rain in Chilliwack. I'm getting it in spades down here in the California desert. Temps are going up to 114, 115 these days. TOO HOT! I'm impressed with the people here that they still get out and do all their normal jobs. I guess a person gets used to the heat but I'm not sure a Canadian is constitutionally able to deal with it. LOL. The hot tub at my resort only goes to 104 and is cool in comparison! ;)

Heh, be careful what you ask for, huh? Now you've got more sun and heat than you know what to do with... the nice thing about the desert is that's it's a dry heat, but when temps are that high, it truly doesn't make a whole lot of difference...

It got cloudy and cool today after about three days of unbelievably beautiful weather. I think showers are predicted for the rest of the week and into the weekend. But it's still a really beautiful city, even with the gray sky and the rain...

I'll have to look at my DVD of Switchman again. It does look like it at first, but I can't believe they edited out those towers. I did hear that the hole was CGI, though. We went over the Granville St. Bridge today, though, so I'll have a good comparison...

And, mmmm... hot tub...

If you haven't already seen it, check out the Museum of Anthropology on the UBC campus. It is worth going just to see "Raven and the first men" by Bill Reid. It's a small museum w totem poles and other coastal First Nations art.

Yes, thanks! I saw the museum the other day, and a few others have recommended it. We may go Thursday when it's supposed to be rainy... it sounds very cool.

Eeee! I didn't know you were going to Vancouver! We were there about six or seven years ago. You *have* to go to one of the two ginormous and famous gelato parlors -- dozens of unusual flavors, so good! One is by the science center dome thing, can't remember where the other is -- but we went to both. Also be sure to eat in Chinatown -- best Chinese food ever! We ate dinner in the revolving tower and went on that suspension bridge (with a sulky kidlet that day, as I recall). Oh, and this was all long before I ever heard of TS, so I never saw any of those sites.

And how cool about the singing -- it sounds wonderful. Tell us more!

Oh, cool! No one has mentioned any gelato parlors yet. We'll have to try and find it. I saw the science center dome thing from the tower, so I think I could find that again.

We did eat in Chinatown today, and it was great! And we're doing the bridge tomorrow. I keep thinking things look familiar, and wanting to go back and watch my TS eps. But it's such a lovely city; looking around is so much fun!

I'll have an update soon on the singing. Thursday we start rehearsing in the concert space, and the orchestra shows up on Friday, so I'll have some new stuff to say then...
