today i was home sick. wasnt a lot of fun really cause i had a horrible migraine, my back was killing me, and throat hurts like b****. not to mention, i havent seen jon for the past four days so ive been pretty sad about that :(

and o yea! this weekend i had my honors choir convention thing and that was a lot of fun! that may actually be the reason why im sick as a dog, and why i havent seen jon soo long. but because my entry about my honors choir may be really long (but prolly worth reading) im going to spare some room and put it in an lj-cut.

Friday we left at 7 am to leave for Cleveland, TN (which happens to be next to Philidelphia, TN) for the Honors Choir convention at Lee Univ. This trip itself wasnt all too bad, but we had a school bus, instead of a coach like Ms. Ragan had promised. but since there was about 13 of us going from Oak Ridge, we all got to have our own seats which was pretty nice i must say.

we were a half hour early so we all stopped at Walmart cause we didnt feel like waiting on the bus for that long. we went and stocked up on candy and food for the hotel later on that night as well as check out the most gaudiest laungerae (or how every you spell it). but we only looked at it cause we got a kick at how big they were. lol. but other than that, we just ran thoughout the store getting candy and food like i said. after being at walmart for half an hour, we got back on the bus and headed straight to Lee Univ. and got registered. after that we went into the huge auditorium and there were about a good 200 of us there for the convention.

now, i had never been in an Honors choir before, so a whole bunch of us were pretty sketchy about what would happen. but ya kno, it was A LOT of fun. sure we sang for three hours straight at a time with only 3 breaks (lunch, snack, and dinner) and from singing soo much thats how my throat got so raw and hurts. never in my life have i ever sung for such a long amount of time (practically the whole day) and along with singing, we were either standing, or sitting straight (ya kno, having your shoulders back, and your back up straight) and that is why my back is killing me. as for the migraine, no idea how i got that. but back onto subject, the guy that was our director was Dr. Z. Randal Stroop, who happens to be very well known as a director and music arranger. so two of our songs we sang were actually by him.

we sang 6 dif. songs: 'Arise my love', 'Come Sweet Death' (that one was pretty fun, we got to do a dance with it! woo hoo! lol), 'Stars I shall find' (one of my fav.), 'Jubilate Deo', 'Filii Et Filiet' and my favorite one of them all 'Omnia Sol' (written by Stroop himself). Dr. Stroop was really nice and kinda reminded me of Mr. McKinley (back at Edgewood).

so overall, the concert and the practice was a whole lot of fun and i kinda regret the fact that im not going to be continuing choir next year because i really want to go back again. well, i still have a week to figure out what im taking next year for school, but im prolly not going to take choir. o well :(
