Of course, I would be up at 3am wondering how I'm going to create a lesson plan on the rock cycle. And make it edifying and exciting and interesting to people who aren't naturally obsessed with rocks. (I love rocks.) I picked the topic for my class assignment to create a unit and individual lesson plans within the unit. there are all sorts of requirements: You have to have an opener and the heart of the lesson and an ending. You have to have student engagement using one or more modalities (verbal, visual, kinethetic, etc), you have ask questions of increasing complexity according to
Bloom's Taxonomy. You have to use a teaching strategy for conveying the lesson to the students. And the lesson's objective has to be based on one the state mandated benchmarks.
I'm coming up with all this weird stuff, ("How is a raven like a writing desk?" - I think that may be up there at the Evaluation part of Bloom's) - I wonder how much of it is inspired and how much of it is 3 am lying awake in bed. We'll see if any of it makes sense in the morning.
