Behold, the KS Attorney Disciplinary Committee

Feb 28, 2009 15:10

It appears former wacky fun Johnson Cty DA/KS Atty General is facing investigation from the KS Attorney Discipline folks, though it's unclear if its for Phill's recent mailbox malaprops or for other prosecutorial peccadillos... From the Kansas City Star 02/27/09:
Former Kansas attorney general Phill Kline and two prosecutors who served under him now must defend themselves against charges that they violated legal ethics.

The state’s attorney discipline office notified Kline, Stephen Maxwell and Eric Rucker last week “that there is probable cause to believe that these attorneys have violated the Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct.”

The Feb. 19 notice said the office will file a formal complaint and schedule a hearing. The lawyers could face sanctions, such as censure, probation or loss of law licenses.

On Wednesday, a judge cleared the way for the trial of Wichita abortion provider George Tiller despite questions about the actions of Kline and Paul Morrison when each served as attorney general.

In other news, Llama is also completing her application to the KS Attorney Admissions committed (including members of the Disciplinary Office, who investigate bar applicants for moral fiber and for the disinclination to lie, cheat and steal from people.) Note to self: Don't be like Phill.
