fur therapy

I went to the allergist this morning, whereupon it was discovered that I am allergic. To a lot of things, including dogs and cats. (But have never let this stop me in my snuggling.) We're going to start shots in 3 weeks. Am a bit itchy still from the skin test this morning.

So I went back to chez parents and played with Elmo and Molly to get some quality fur therapy time in. (I have missed them!) They were happy for attention. I then went into "crazy brushy lady" mode and took them out on the deck to brush out some of their shedding tufts and mats (the underfluffies of their double coats start to come out this time of year.) I think I got almost 1/2 a dog out of elmo's coat alone. (Alas, I do not think I have the patience to turn doggy underfluffies into mittens anytime soon, though I think it would be an interesting project, to say the least.)

The backyard hasn't been mowed in sometime, and now has waist high grass. The dogs love it, pushing through the tall grass like creatures of Serengeti in search in prey. It's quite a sight to see the old dogs gamboling about in the grass.
